The Civics Center 🗳 On a mission to make voter registration part of every high school in America

10/09/2026

seniors: Were you given a voter registration form at school? A new law this year requires high schools to provide one 🗳️

New York's deadline to register for November's election is October 24! If you'll be 18 by then, make sure you're registered.

And even if you're 16 or 17, you can still pre-register now and be ready for your turn in 2028.

Waiting until 18 to register to vote? You might not have to 👀

In many states, you can actually pre-register a year or two early so you're ready to hit the polls in 2028.

Could you pre-register to vote at 16? A bill in Congress, the Youth Voting Rights Act, would make that possible in every state.

Here's what's in it:
✅ Pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds in every state
✅ Student IDs accepted as voter ID in federal elections
✅ More registration opportunities at colleges and universities
✅ Grants for youth participation in elections
✅ Research on voting trends by age and race
