San Diego Community, we’re coming your way, let’s connect! ✊🏼
�Join us for our August Community Meeting happening in person in San Diego or virtually via Zoom! This month, we’ll highlight what we’ve accomplished during the first half of 2026, and share what our community can look forward to for the rest of the year. We’ll also be joined by some community partners who will share the work they’re doing in San Diego County and ways to get involved locally.

We’re deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved community member and Outside Organizer, Ben Amador 🤍

Ben brought heart, passion, and authenticity to everything he did, leaving an impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His voice, his advocacy, and the love he showed for his community will not be forgotten.

Sending love and care to his family, loved ones, and everyone who was touched by Ben. May he rest in peace 🕊️

Alyssa first became involved with Initiate Justice in 2022, when she graduated from our Institute of Impacted Leaders Riverside Cohort!

As our new Development & Operations Administrator, Alyssa will support fundraising, operations, and special events, working across teams to build systems that are effective, equitable, and community-centered ✊🏼

Our Coachella Valley and Los Angeles Institute of Impacted Leaders participants are ready to take on our Advocacy in Action Lobby Day at the State Capitol ✊🏼

During our lobby day, formerly incarcerated people and those with incarcerated loved ones will have the opportunity to share their personal stories, discuss our co-sponsored bill, AB 1851 by Assemblymember Mike Gipson, and inform legislators about the links between civic engagement and public safety, and about the harms of felony disenfranchisement.
