Another successful Braiding Training Cohort is officially in the books! 🎉💇🏽‍♀️✨
Over the course of this hands-on training, participants learned essential braiding techniques, hair care practices, client service skills, and the foundations of building a career in the beauty industry. Most importantly, they gained confidence, creativity, and a pathway toward economic empowerment.
At Healing Urban Barrios, we believe workforce development comes in many forms. Our braiding program provides participants with practical skills that can lead to entrepreneurship, supplemental income, and long-term career opportunities.

Today, Healing Urban Barrios welcomed more than 50 community members to the first day of our two-week Job Readiness Training Program! 💼✨
Participants began their journey toward employment and economic empowerment by learning essential workplace skills, professional development strategies, resume building, interview preparation, and career planning.
This orientation marks the beginning of a transformative experience. Upon completing the job readiness component, participants will transition into specialized vocational training programs aligned with their career goals and industry interests.
We are excited to support this incredible group as they take the next steps toward meaningful employment, financial stability, and long-term success.

We’re excited to launch our new Guitar Lesson Workshop — a creative space where youth can learn music, build confidence, express themselves, and connect through art outside of our regular programming.
This summer workshop is more than learning chords and songs — it’s about healing, mentorship, creativity, and giving young people positive outlets and new opportunities to grow.
✨ ONLY 10 SLOTS AVAILABLE ✨
Spots are limited to ensure each participant receives hands-on instruction and support.
We are currently seeking funding and community support to make this program permanent and accessible year-round for the youth we serve. Programs like this create safe spaces, inspire talent, and help young people discover new passions and purpose.
