"This talk will reflect upon an end-to-end implementation of a news personalization service with the SciPy stack on AWS, with particular emphasis given to modeling news relevance in a scalable fashion using a combination of machine learning and NLP methods. We will also discuss how to deal with the time lags arising from the cold start problem, where items may not score highly until after it is already too late, and how to avoid the overfitting arising from the feedback loop introduced when retraining on past recommendations. In addition to performing well for news, these methods could also be applied to search, advertising, and other areas with similar types of data."

"Deep-Q-Learning algorithm for experience replay relies upon the large-scale buffers with backpropagation method with episodic optimization. Presentation of a real-world project with on-device ARM Cortex processor integrating FPGA devices Xilinx PYNQ-Z1 FPGA Board platform with OpenAI gym Cartpole environment. The Deep-Q-Learning algorithm ran 126x times faster than the conventional Deep-Q-Learning algorithm. The project also leveraged an extreme learning machine method with online sequential ELM instead of a backpropagation technique."
