New Challenge Ministries, Inc. Closed Wednesday and Sunday. Hours to distribute Mon Tues, Thur, n Fri. 12:30 to 1:30 Saturday 1 to 2

Over the last 40 years of community involvement, we have had the opportunity to educate the public and private sector about the needs and struggles of those struggling with life-controlling problems such as drugs and alcohol. In November of 2005, as part of our mission to serve the community, we began to fight hunger by gathering and distributing food, engaging in partnerships that advance self-sufficiency and by providing leadership on issues related to hunger. New Challenge Fresh Rescue Food Bank is now the largest food bank in the South Bay as designated by Mayor Eric Garcetti. All are welcome and we distribute fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, bread and meat to over...80,000 people per month (with the help of 35 other organizations).

WOW! THANKSGIVING IS ALMOST HERE! 🦃❤️🙏

My friends, can you believe we’re already halfway through October? Time is flying by!

I’m excited to share what God is doing at New Challenge Ministries!

This year, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Youth Foundation is partnering with us for our Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway. They’re encouraging Sheriff’s stations to collect food and helping us reach even more families.

We’re preparing to help DOUBLE the number of people we’ve served in previous years!

A friend from the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation also shared a wonderful opportunity through UPS. Employees can donate through a special QR code, and UPS will match their donations!

We’re also thankful for Holiday Inn Harbor Gateway, which has been collecting canned goods for our Thanksgiving event. What a blessing!

But something else makes this year especially meaningful to me.

This marks our 10th year of helping active-duty military families, veterans, and homeless veterans during Thanksgiving, along with the many other families and individuals we serve.

My friends, after 45 years of ministry, I’ve learned that behind every person asking for food, there’s a story.

A struggling mother. A senior living on a fixed income. A veteran needing a helping hand.

These aren’t just numbers. These are people, and every person matters!

That’s why I’m asking you from my heart:

WILL YOU HELP US THIS THANKSGIVING? ❤️

We need turkeys, roasted chickens, pies, and financial donations to help make this possible.

Whether you’re an individual, family, business, or church, your kindness can make a difference!

Remember, my friends, you just never know what someone else is going through.

We don’t just feed people — we restore hope!

Laura and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

God bless you all! ❤️🙏

Hello everyone, my friends!

Today has been another busy but wonderful day at New Challenge Ministries!

One of the things I love most about what we do is having the opportunity to help others, pray with them, listen to their stories, and sometimes just be there when someone needs someone to talk to.

After 45 years, I’ve learned that sometimes the greatest gift we can give someone is our time. Just letting them know somebody cares can make a difference.

Today, we welcomed two new volunteers!

One is a young lady who’s a senior at a local high school. She told me she’d wanted to volunteer with us for a long time but didn’t know how until she asked her school counselor to contact us. How wonderful is that!

Our other volunteer is an engineer who also helps his parents with their logistics company. I enjoyed learning about his family business and sharing about the companies we work with.

And it’s always a blessing to see Shereen! She started volunteering with her mom when she was in eighth grade. Today, she’s a junior at USC, works full-time, and still finds time to help us. What a blessing!

Next Sunday, I’m looking forward to joining my friend Fernando Guerrero and his organization for their Second Annual Red Ribbon Event. We’re grateful to be involved!

You know, it’s not always about how much we give. Sometimes it’s simply about listening, encouraging someone, and letting them know they matter.

That’s what New Challenge Ministries is all about.

❤️ Would you like to make a difference in someone’s life? Come join our family of volunteers. We would love to have you!

We don’t just feed people. We restore hope, because every person matters.

Today was another great day at New Challenge Ministries, and I wanted to share a few things from my heart.
Last evening, Laura had the opportunity to share with the wonderful ladies of National Charity League (NCL). We’ve been partnering with this great organization since 2018, and what a blessing they’ve been to our ministry.
Today, Kim from NCL stopped by with our very first donation for our upcoming Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway. What a great way to begin preparing for the holidays!
Then our friend Rhonda stopped by and couldn’t stop telling me how much she enjoyed hearing our interview on KKLA a couple of weeks ago. She kept saying how wonderful it was.
I told her, “I’m glad you enjoyed it because Laura and I never even got the opportunity to hear it ourselves!”
It reminded me of something that happened a couple of years ago after we appeared on Good Day LA.
Laura and I went to a local restaurant, and our waitress got so excited when she saw us. She said, “Oh my God! You guys were on TV! I told everybody that’s Pastor John and Laura! I know them!”
Then she said, “You guys are famous!”
I laughed and said, “No, we’re not famous.”
As I shared with Rhonda today, all I want to do is give God the glory.
It’s never been about recognition or being on television or radio. It’s about serving others, making a difference in someone’s life, and reminding people that they matter.
After 45 years of serving our community, I’m still amazed at the doors God continues to open and the wonderful people He brings into our lives.
Thank you to everyone who continues to walk alongside us.
We don’t just feed people. We restore hope, because every person matters.
To God be the glory!

Hello everyone!
Even though it’s hot again, we have so much to be thankful for.
Yesterday we were able to give water to our clients while they waited, and they were so appreciative. Thank you to everyone who helps us with water, groceries and household items like trash bags and all the other things we need. Thank you also to the people who bring us dog food and cat food. It all helps us continue doing what we do.
Yesterday we also had an urgent need to find a home for a four-month-old Lab. Jerry and his daughter stepped up and adopted him! 🐶❤️ Thank you, Jerry and your daughter, for giving this little guy a home.
New Challenge Ministries is also a partner with Pets of the Homeless, a national organization located in Nevada. We’re thankful that we can help not only people, but also their pets when there is a need.
I also want to thank Torrance Memorial Medical Center for their continued partnership. Over the past three years they have given us around 40,000 pounds of food, but we were partnering with them even before we moved into our present location. When I think about all the years we’ve been working together, it’s probably close to 100,000 pounds of food they have given us to help our community. That’s a lot of food and a lot of families helped.
And thank you to The Cheesecake Factory. For the third year in a row they collected peanut butter for us, and this year they collected 1,500 pounds of peanut butter! Thank you for your partnership and for continuing to support New Challenge Ministries.
Sometimes we get so busy that we don’t stop and think about how many people are helping us. Whether you bring us a case of water, a bag of groceries, pet food, household supplies or you’re one of the organizations that partners with us, we appreciate you.
Hopefully the weather will start cooling down some soon!
Thank you again to everyone who continues to help us help others.
We don’t just feed people we restore hope, because every person matters.
God bless you all. ❤️🙏
