A new complaint filed in WI aims to hold Big Food companies accountable for ultraprocessed foods. Similar lawsuits have been filed in at least 8 states!

How did Big Food gain such a chokehold on American health? They used Big Tobacco’s playbook to create addictive products marketed towards children.

A combination of fed-up consumers, lawsuits, state laws, and more is forcing Big Food companies to pay attention. Some are changing recipes and some are not. Nearly all of them are exploring legal remedies and interviewing lobbyists.

Big Food may say their ok with change, but they’re gearing up for a fight against GRAS reform.

Big Food has hired 35 lobbyists in the first quarter of 2026. In the first quarter of 2025, they hired 12.
