Tomorrow we are proudly introducing SmartRec by Amilia to modernize membership and program registration at the J.

To help facilitate a smooth transition, Lap Swim and Water Aerobics reservations will continue to be available for registration in iClass through Friday (Sept. 4) before switching over to Amilia.

Rock legend Norman Fox will be here LIVE at the J on Saturday, performing a classic set of original rock & roll with The Rob Roys, Jann Karam - Comedian and The Dukes of Doo W*p will lend us an evening of live music, comedy, and nostalgia that will be wonderful for the LA community and serves as a fundraiser for the revitalization of our Auditorium. Picture this: 1956 on a New York street corner. A group of guys who just wanted to sing. That's how Norman Fox's story starts... and trust us, the way he tells it, you'll feel like you were there! 🎤✨

Now he's bringing that same charisma (and a killer sequin jacket) to the J stage for A Night of Music at the J next Saturday for a fundraiser night packed with golden-era rock 'n' roll, live doo-wop harmonies from The Dukes of Doo W*p, and standup from our very own Jann Karam - Comedian!

We’re mourning the loss of a woman who was truly one of a kind, Risa Igelfeld. Holocaust survivor, beloved JCC preschool teacher for 40 years, and the accordion player behind decades of our Shabbats and so many celebrations, passed away recently at 108 years old.

Risa fled Nazi-occupied Vienna in 1938, rebuilt her life in England and then LA, and spent the next half century filling our halls with music, warmth, and an unshakable belief in gratitude. We were lucky enough to celebrate her 100th birthday right here at the J.

Her funeral is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18 at 1:30 PM PT. It was Risa’s wish that everyone who celebrated her 100th birthday with us here to be invited, so our whole J family is invited to join by webcast through Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries (registration required):

What a week! We can't believe it's over 🥹

This year's JCC Maccabi Games featured more than 150 of our athletes, plus a wide crew of staff & coaches, alongside 3,000+ Jewish teens from around the world in two cities at once across a multitude of sports & activities. Here are just a few of our favorite moments.

Sports like baseball, volleyball, golf, basketball, aquatics and more bring young people to the Games... but Jewish community supercharges their identity.
