The Greater Asia region is emerging as a global leader in the transition from a “digital first” to an “AI-first” future for consumers, enterprises and society. The Center for Global Management’s latest tech-focused global immersion course, led by Professor Terry Kramer, included travel to Shenzhen and Singapore — two of the world’s most dynamic innovation hubs. The course examined how technology is transforming society, enterprises, and consumers, with a particular focus on AI and agentic AI. Through discussions and site visits with organizations including Alibaba, ByteDance, BYD, Google, Grab, Meta, SHEIN, Temasek, Tencent, UBTECH Robotics, and emerging AI innovators, participants gained firsthand exposure to how the region is accelerating innovation through the convergence of policy, capital, talent, and experimentation.

This event is a collaboration with the Easton Technology Management Center and Center for Global Management as part of the Wilbur K. Woo Greater China Business Series. Supporting organizations include the UCLA Anderson Greater China Business Association and UCLA Asia Pacific Center.

This year's conference brings together scholars from diverse disciplines—linguistics, literature, history, media studies, and more—to reflect on the past, present, and future of the tongues of Taiwan. We invite discussions and debate around how linguistic practice has shaped cultural identity and vice versa in Taiwan, as well as explorations of the nuanced negotiations between different languages and cultural traditions undertaken by peoples living in the archipelago.

ASPAC 2026 will be held June 24–26, 2026 at California State University, Northridge. The conference invites proposals from educators, scholars, and students working in Asian and Asian diaspora studies under the theme “Rethinking Asia: Crisis, Resilience, and Collective Futures.” It welcomes panels, papers, roundtables, and posters addressing historical and contemporary issues shaped by climate change, geopolitics, technology, and migration. Topics include sustainability, mobility and transnational networks, digital cultures and AI ethics, arts and media, and evolving ideas of community and belonging, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and forward-looking approaches. The submission deadline is Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Submit a proposal for the Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast AAS regional conference by April 15—the conference will take place at Cal State Northridge, June 24-26.
