Melissa Sherak Glasser recently spoke at a private fundraiser about her journey living with MS. She speaks on the feeling of being diagnosed at 16, the immediate action her parents took to help, and the legacy her father created along the way.

Tom poured his efforts into advocating for a cure for MS, raising over $44M in 26 years to contribute to the cause. Although he is no longer with us, Tom’s legacy continues to rally us all to support cutting edge research, develop new potential treatments, help those locally in need, and ultimately discover a cure for MS. Tom Sherak always said “Give until it feels good.” 💙 Tom’s daughter, Melissa, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1988 when she was 15 years old. From that day forward, Tom poured his efforts into advocating for a cure for MS, raising over $44M in 26 years to contribute to the cause. In addition to supporting research efforts, Tom and his wife Madeleine focused much of their energy working to support programs and immediate assistance – both through the National MS Society and the Sherak Family Fund at UCLA.

Although he is no longer with us, Tom’s legacy continues to rally us all to support cutting edge research, develop new potential treatments, help those locally in need, and ultimately discover a cure for MS. It is with his drive and spirit that we commit to “Think Like Tom” for Melissa, our loved ones, and thousands of other people that suffer from the disease.

The Tom Sherak MS Hope Foundation partners with leading Multiple Sclerosis research institutions such as UCLA, UCSF, and others to develop new treatments to slow down the progression of MS; determine the causes and triggers of MS; and ultimately to find a cure for MS and improve the quality of life for those living with Multiple Sclerosis.
We are proud to have provided grants to world-renowned MS neurologists for their ground-breaking research. We also support the needs of those living with MS in our local area by funding requests from individuals living with MS for equipment and scholarships to The Marilyn Hilton MS Achievement Center at UCLA.
We couldn’t do this without your generosity, and we are proud to say that 93.5% of every dollar raised goes directly to rapid-response funding of these and other action-oriented, cutting-edge measures.

"'Give until it feels good,' my dad would always say! My dad, mom, and some other wonderful people created the Tom Sherak MS Hope Foundation to help people who suffer from multiple sclerosis. Their goal is to give them hope and to let them know that they are not alone.

Hope is so important for healing. I know this because I lost it this past year. It has been a really hard year for me. This disease seemed to be getting stronger and moving faster. The doctors switched my medicine after 25 years to a stronger one. A year ago, I was able to walk to the pool 2 blocks away. Now, I am only able to walk slowly to my car in the driveway.

This is not my destiny! I found myself frustrated, scared, and feeling alone. I needed a sign. I needed
hope. And then it hit me. The Para Olympics! I am going to train for the Para Olympics in swimming. The thought of swimming in the Para Olympics made me so happy I couldn’t stop smiling! I felt so
alive. I had hope again.!!! And I needed to share this. If it could help me, it can help other people! And that is what I promised my dad I would do, help other people.

The Tom Sherak MS Hope Foundation mourns the passing of our friend, our mentor, our hero, Bruce Corwin. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his loving wife Toni and to his adoring children and grandchildren.

Bruce was a warm, caring, and loving member of our MS community who, with his generosity, his wisdom, and his gentle manner, encouraged and inspired us all to fight for and help all those who suffer and are affected by MS.

We are committed to continue this fight and will carry with us the lessons he taught us to make a difference in the world and, specifically, in the MS community.

The Tom Sherak MS Hope Foundation mourns the passing of our friend, David “Squiggy” Lander, and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife Kathy, his daughter Natalie, and his son-in-law Jared.

We also honor and celebrate David.

He made us laugh and also showed us how he lived his life with multiple sclerosis, acknowledging its challenges and championing the cause to find a cure and helping others suffering from MS as well.

We will miss his whimsical smile and laugh, and we will continue to fight for a cure and help others as he did.

David, you were and will always be one of our heroes 💙
