💔 END OF WATCH: K-9 BOLO DIES JUST HOURS AFTER COMING HOME FROM HIS SHIFT

The Brookland Police Department is mourning the heartbreaking loss of K-9 Officer BOLO, who was found deceased in his kennel on the morning of July 18, only hours after returning home with his handler following their overnight shift.

Earlier that night, BOLO and Officer Cody Ladner experienced an unexpected roadside emergency when their patrol vehicle suffered a mechanical failure on Arkansas Highway 49. After hearing a loud boom and noticing smoke coming from the vehicle, Officer Ladner immediately got himself and BOLO to safety. Despite the frightening incident, BOLO appeared energetic and showed no signs of distress.

Because of vehicle issues, BOLO was taken home instead of returning to duty. Before ending his shift at approximately 2 a.m., Officer Ladner checked on BOLO and made sure he had water—just as he always did. It would be the last time he saw his loyal partner alive.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., BOLO was found unresponsive in his kennel.

The Greene County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation, and a necropsy performed by the Arkansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory confirmed that BOLO died from gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat—a sudden and often fatal medical emergency in dogs. Investigators found no signs of trauma or foul play, and his death was officially ruled to be from natural causes.

BOLO was described as physically fit, energetic, and always ready to work. While he looked intimidating on duty, those who knew him say he was sweet-natured and deeply loved by Officer Ladner and his family. His bond with his handler was truly special, making this loss even more devastating.

Retired K-9 Rona, a courageous Belgian Malinois has crossed the Rainbow Bridge after years of faithfully serving and protecting the Kenner community. She may have walked on four legs, but she served with the heart of a warrior.

K-9 Unit, Rona quickly became an indispensable partner to Officer Frumveller. For seven years, she worked tirelessly in narcotics detection and major crime investigations, helping officers remove dangerous drugs from the streets and keeping countless families safer.

In 2022, Rona and Officer Frumveller were assigned to the Major Crimes Task Force, where she continued to serve with unwavering dedication. Even after retiring in April 2025, Rona remained close to the handler she loved, enjoying the peaceful life she had earned after a career spent protecting others.

On July 15, 2026, Officer Frumveller, fellow officers, friends, and family gathered to say goodbye to Rona and give her the honorable farewell she deserved.

Thank you, K-9 Rona, for every mile you ran, every danger you faced, and every life you helped protect. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will live on forever. ❤️🐾

💔 ILLEGAL FIREWORKS LED TO TRAGEDY: FRESNO K-9 SANTI KILLED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is mourning the heartbreaking loss of K-9 Santi, a loyal police dog who was tragically killed during the Fourth of July weekend after being frightened by illegal fireworks.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Santi was at his handler's home when he was briefly let into the backyard to relieve himself. Moments later, loud illegal aerial mortar fireworks exploded nearby, startling the K-9. Santi jumped the backyard fence and ran into the street as his handler chased after him barefoot.

Sadly, Santi was struck by a vehicle near Shaw and Helm Avenues in Clovis. He was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he could not be saved.

Santi had proudly served the Fresno County Sheriff's Office for four years and had been partnered with his current handler for more than a year. They worked side by side every day and lived together, making the loss deeply personal for the deputy and the entire department.

Following the tragedy, law enforcement agencies from across the region joined in a solemn procession to honor Santi as he was escorted to a private memorial service.

The Clovis Police Department is investigating the incident and continues searching for the driver involved.

The Sheriff's Office also reminded the public that even highly trained police K-9s can be terrified by illegal fireworks, urging pet owners to keep animals secure during celebrations.
