A few more faces, paws, and people who made our Pet Wellness Event so special. 🐾💙

This day was made possible by the donors, partners, volunteers, and organizations who showed up with one shared goal: helping our neighbors care for the pets who mean so much to them.

From essential pet care to food, supplies, and helpful resources, every contribution played a part in making support more accessible for pets and their families.

Humanity shows up in the way we care for one another.

This World Humanitarian Day, we’re celebrating the people who give their time, resources, compassion, and encouragement to help others move forward.

At the Los Angeles Mission, that impact can be seen from many perspectives. It’s felt by our neighbors who receive care, by graduates who found support when they needed it most, and by donors and volunteers who discover just how meaningful it can be to show up for someone else.

We’re also grateful for the partners, organizations, and community members who work alongside us to make this care possible. Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors and our community. ❤️🙌

A celebration of skills, growth, and what comes next!

Eight women recently celebrated the completion of the 10-week Dough Girl culinary program in partnership with the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the Los Angeles Mission.

Throughout the program, participants built hands-on culinary skills, from sanitation and food safety to knife skills, kitchen tools, and meal preparation, while also developing skills that support recovery, confidence, and rebuilding their lives.

Their Culinary Culmination brought everyone together for one final showcase, where the graduates put what they learned into action with an Italian-inspired Pasta Toss and shared the moment with the people who supported them along the way. 🍝

A special thank you to Dough Girl for partnering with us to invest in these women, share your expertise, and create opportunities for them to build skills they can carry into their next chapter.

Congratulations to all eight graduates! 💙

Supporting our neighbors also means supporting the pets they love. 🐾

At our recent Pet Wellness Event, we partnered with organizations like Dogs Matter, which supports pet owners in recovery by providing free, temporary foster care for their dogs while they seek inpatient treatment. By making sure their pets are safe and cared for, Dogs Matter helps owners focus on their recovery with the goal of reuniting them with their pets.

As Kelli Jacobson shares, the love our Skid Row neighbors have for their pets is undeniable. We’re grateful to work alongside partners who recognize that caring for people often means caring for the animals they love, too.
