Why you should ditch butterfly kits next year:

🦋 They don’t meet butterflies’ needs
Released butterflies may struggle to survive without the right food and environment.

💔 Animals aren’t classroom tools
Butterflies are living beings, not supplies to be used and forgotten about after a lesson.

🚫 They can send the wrong message
Allowing students to manipulate the lives of insects and other animals sends the harmful message that it’s OK to bully other sentient beings simply because they’re different from us.

The 2025–2026 TeachKind Science pilot program has come to a close 🐸❤️ Thousands of animals have been saved from the dissection tray, and tens of thousands of students have been spared from the traumatizing experience of dissection.
