Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers - (LABUE) LABUE strives to provide "something for everyone" in the exciting world of SCUBA diving.

The Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers (LABUE) is a SCUBA diving club that has been dedicated to expanding the knowledge and enjoyment of SCUBA diving among African-Americans for more than 14 years. Supported by more than 100 members, LABUE has found success by offering a wide variety dive opportunities including beach dives, boat dives, tropical dive vacation trips to some of the most popular

dive destinations on earth, and an array of enjoyable social and networking activities. LABUE has something to satisfy a wide range of SCUBA diving skill levels; and dive interests from technical diving, to UW photography, hunting, UW archeology, and more. We also regularly introduces non-divers to the sport through our Discover Scuba Program. LABUE general membership, committee members, and the board of directors are are volunteers who have worked together to take LABUE to new heights throughout the years. We have some wonderfully talented divers who dedicated themselves to scuba dive with the latest and at the most forefront guidelines and practices of the sport's standards.

As we celebrate Black in Marine Science (BIMS) Week 2023, take a look back on last year’s BIMS Immersion Program supported by NOAA Ocean Exploration and NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries!

JOIN US FOR DISCOVER SCUBA ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10TH

Discover SCUBA is designed to introduce those interested to the exciting sport of SCUBA diving. Participants will learn about SCUBA during a classroom session followed by the opportunity try out SCUBA equipment on an optional shallow dive in a swimming pool under the close supervision of a dive instructor. All dive equipment is provided for the class. All you need to bring is a bathing suit and towel.

Get the word out to your friends, relatives, and co-workers that they are invited to participate in one of LABUE’s most popular community outreach activities.

Cost for the Discover SCUBA class is only $50 ($25 payable in advance to register and reserve your spot + $25 payable to the dive instructor in cash the evening of the class).
