Survivor Justice Center Empowering survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault LACLJ provides free legal representation, education and advocacy.

Our services decrease homelessness, increase family stability and provide safe, violence-free homes for children. LACLJ believes that justice should not be determined by wealth, citizenship, language, or age. We focus on serving families in crisis and those who have the greatest barriers to accessing our judicial system. We help individuals face their adversity with the dignity that they deserve. We are unique among legal aid programs because we prioritize client-based services, focus on providing direct legal services by our staff attorneys, not volunteers, and we are able to serve individuals regardless of legal status or age. We offer a full range of services, including advice and counsel, preparation of legal documents, and representation in court.

October marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We’re highlighting our community of staff, supporters, and survivors—thousands of people who are dedicated to ensuring everyone has safety, security, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Today, we’re looking back on our 2026 Gala with actress and activist Alyssa Milano, the recipient of our Voice for Justice Award. Alyssa has spent decades advocating for women and immigrants. She is truly a champion for justice, and we are grateful to call her part of our community.

Last week, some of our new Community Advocates joined us for Advocacy Day at Stanley Mosk Courthouse! We're grateful to Susan Thrall for teaching us about social work's role in the courthouse, and to Commissioner Cohen for hosting a Q&A for our students. Thanks to their collaboration, our CAs are ready to help guide and support survivors as they navigate the court system.

Meet Tanya Solorzano, a legal advocate with our family law team. Tanya recently celebrated her two year anniversary at Survivor Justice Center! In her role, she provides legal support to clients and attorneys to help move cases forward.

Her favorite part of working at Survivor Justice Center is hearing the client testimonials at our annual Bridge to Justice galas. She said, "Their stories are powerful, deeply moving reminders of the resilience of the people we serve and the purpose that drives our work every day."
