The now world famous "hero cat" that protected her family from an attacking dog got to "throw out" a ceremonial first pitch at the town's baseball stadium. Adorable. And the big message is that all animals have the capability to act in ways far beyond what we give them credit for.

The cheers keep coming for Tara the tabby cat: Last week, she was seen saving her owner's 4-year-old son from an attack by a neighborhood dog. Last night, she and the boy threw out the first pitches at a minor league baseball game.

Unfortunately it's that time of year again where baby seals are cruelly hunted for their pelts-- we should keep fighting to raise awareness until it's banned for good.

400,000 seals will be clubbed to death in Canada this year (often skinned alive). The furs are sold on the global market, allowing Canada to profit from the continuation of this horrendous practice.

And now for something on the unbelievably adorable side-- photos of a baby pygmy hippo rescued by handlers at a South African wildlife park after being rejected by his parents. With only 3000 of these stunning animals left in the wild, his birth is cause for celebration.

Hadn't heard about this one before, but now that we have, we cannot forget it. There's a "Tradition" in remote regions of Brazil, traditionally during Easter, that involves slowly torturing an oxen to death over a few days, basically for fun. TERRIBLE. Shaking with anger at this... guys this is serious. NEVER let your dogs eat things from the ground. Some psychopath has been leaving treats with nails in them in Buenos Aires... and the more we've researched this, the more stories we've found (poisoned sausages, etc). Please sign this petition.

OUTRAGE! Killing 100 perfectly wonderful sled dogs because business was slow. Horror stories about the executions... Please hear out this important story.

About 100 sled dogs were killed after bookings dropped for a tour operator following the 2010 Olympics. The event was described in documents awarding compensation to a worker, claiming post-traumatic stress disorder after shooting the dogs. (Feb. 1)
