* ¿Alguna vez ha hecho o pagado por reparaciones a su apartamento cuando el dueño no quiso hacerlas?
* ¿Alguna vez ha logrado obligar al dueño a reembolsar por las reparaciones que usted hizo?

En el Sindicato de Inquilinxs de Los Ángeles, hemos decidido que es hora de organizarnos colectivamente alrededor de las reparaciones que necesitamos. Queremos empezar hacer nuestras propias reparaciones cuando los dueños se tarden en hacerlo o cuando no quieren arreglar. Vamos a deducir el costo de estas reparaciones directamente de la renta que pagamos. Pero necesitamos tu ayuda. Complete la encuesta de habitabilidad de SILA para que podamos tener una idea de los problemas de reparación más comunes que enfrentan los Inquilinos. La encuesta también nos ayudará a comenzar a organizar a nuestros miembros con habilidades en plomería, electricidad, reparaciones básicas, control de plagas, ebanistería, contratistas independientes, inspectores certificados, etc.

* Have you ever made or paid for repairs to your apartment when your landlord wouldn’t make them?
* Have you ever succeeded in forcing the landlord to pay for self-repairs?

In the L.A. Tenants Union, we say it’s time to organize collectively around the repairs we need! We want to make our own repairs when the landlords lag or refuse to make the repairs we need. We will be deducting these repair costs directly from the rent we pay. We need your help. Complete the LATU habitability survey so we can get a sense of the most common repair issues that tenants face. The survey will also help us begin to organize members with skills in plumbing, electrical, basic repairs, pest control, cabinetry, independent contractors, certified inspectors, etc.

We support the effort to combat police violence in our communities. Justice for Chris Garcia murdered by LAPD and Justice for Francisco Amezcua murdered by San Fernando PD.

Join our march against police brutality and mass incarceration! Bring your militant posters and demand People's Justice! In light of the recent murder of Chris Garcia on the Terra Bella 5 freeway exit by LAPD, we are demanding People's Justice for Chris Garcia, Francisco Amezcua, and all victims of LAPD violence. Since 2000, 900 people have been murdered by LAPD with virtually no convictions! We demand LAPD immediately release bodycam footage of the Chris Garcia murder!

You’re invited to join us in a neighborhood cleanup of a Sun Valley neighborhood where we are most recently engaging in struggle with two neighboring tenants! Feel free to bring brooms, gloves, trash bags, etc. Though we will also have some!
After that, we will have some snacks and a brief meeting to introduce one another and get into a discussion on the needs of our neighborhood and how we can unite to fight back against harassment and evictions! Message us if you would like to provide either supplies or snacks!

Nunca hemos parado de estar en las vecindades de nuestros vecinos más vulnerables. ¡El apoyo es para siempre! Únase a lucha de dos inquilinos com que hemos estado organizando en la área de Sun Valley para crear una ret de apoyo en su vecindad cercano sobre la Tujunga Ave. Y Sherman Way. Somos más fuertes cuando tenemos amigos y vecinos que nos respalden. Los invitamos a una limpieza de vecindad(2pm-4pm) y junta(4pm-6pm) el 9 de Mayo en el parking lot del Sun Valley Costco!

Tenants asked for help with this so we’re opening up the opportunity to folks to come meet with us, update us on your situation as a tenant, and get plugged into current work in organizing our communities against evictions and harrassment! There are limitations to the city’s “rent relief”. The city looked like they had a whole load of money to help bail out landlords; let’s see them put their money where their mouth is and see how far they go as to assist tenants in this crisis. True change to the way housing is operated and distributed will come from working class tenants. Plug in, let’s talk, let’s organize!
