We at Driftseed were deeply disturbed to learn yesterday (June 20, 2019) that an employee at one of our partner organizations has been accused of and admitted to sexual assault. More information: https://bit.ly/2KvUrsZ
First and foremost, we stand with and support Maggie Ambrosino-Sands and Molly Nestor. We stand with, support, and believe all survivors.
Benjamin Alfaro was a full-time employee of InsideOut Literary Arts, a non-profit organization based in Detroit. Driftseed and our partners at the University of Michigan Center for Education Design, Evaluation and Research, collaborated with Alfaro and InsideOut in the creation and piloting of our educational materials for the documentary film "Little Stones". We at Driftseed had no knowledge at the time of our collaboration (2016-2017) that Alfaro had been accused of or admitted to committing sexual assault.
We are heartbroken to learn this occurred and appreciate both the The Neutral Zone and InsideOut Literary Arts' honesty.
For survivors reading this message, you are not alone. If you need to speak with someone, please contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800.656.HOPE (4673) or by online chat for confidential qualified support. Trained staff are available 24 hours / day and can direct you to local resources and assistance if needed.
Sincerely,
Driftseed Board of Directors
