Before a child can read, they learn to love being read to.

Through our Bright Beginnings for Baby program, HCHC’s Resident Services team delivers books to every household with children ages 0 to 2 across our communities, giving families an early, joyful start to reading together. This program exists because of the generosity and vision of The Brown Family, to make sure every child in our communities has books at home from the very beginning.

Swipe through to see some of our youngest residents with their new favorite books. 📚💛

In memory of Karen Diehl, a former member of HCHC’s Board of Directors who dedicated 13 years to our mission. Karen’s belief in affordable housing and stronger communities helped shape who we are today. We are grateful for her service and her legacy, and we hold her family and loved ones close during this time.

After years of planning, collaboration, and dedication, Tierra Apartments successfully reached its construction loan closing last week. This milestone represents the culmination of countless hours of hard work and the collective efforts of an exceptional team of partners who remained committed to bringing this vision to life. Located in Santa Monica, Tierra Apartments will soon provide 82 affordable homes for seniors, creating a vibrant community where older adults will have the opportunity to age with dignity, stability, and the support they deserve.

A very special thank you to the entire Hollywood Community Housing Corporation staff, our financing partners, legal counsel, consultants, public agency partners, the general contractor, architect, and everyone who contributed to making this construction loan closing a success. Your expertise, persistence, and teamwork made this achievement possible.

A construction loan closing is one of the most significant milestones in the development process. It marks the transition from years of planning and predevelopment to construction, bringing us one step closer to welcoming residents home.

Congratulations to everyone who helped bring Tierra Apartments to this important milestone. We can’t wait to start construction and, before long, see these 82 affordable homes become a place that so many residents will proudly call home.

For ten years, Venice Dell has represented a simple idea: public land should help address our housing crisis.

This month, a court ruling removed a major obstacle to the project, bringing 120 affordable and supportive homes one step closer to reality.

We’re proud to stand with our partners, advocates, and community members who have spent years fighting for housing solutions that match the scale of Los Angeles’ need. The work isn’t over, but this is an important step forward.

Another exciting affordable housing community moving forward in Los Angeles.

Casa de la Luz, a 95-unit affordable housing development by Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, is anticipated to complete construction in August 2027. Projects like this take years of planning, coordination, financing, and partnership to bring to life — and it’s always rewarding to see the vision steadily becoming reality.

Developments like Casa de la Luz are about more than housing production numbers. They represent long-term investment in people, neighborhoods, and housing stability for residents throughout Los Angeles.

Special thanks to Walton Construction for capturing the timelapse video and helping showcase the incredible work happening on site.

Grateful for the collective effort from everyone helping move this community forward, and excited to continue expanding access to high-quality affordable housing.

Exciting progress at Peak Plaza! 🏗️ Our 104-unit affordable apartment community at 306 E. Washington Boulevard in Historic South-Central is rising fast — bringing much-needed homes to families earning 30–60% AMI, just steps from the A Line.

Just after one year after breaking ground south of Downtown Los Angeles, wood framing is on the rise for a new affordable housing complex from Hollywood Community Housing Corp.
