The Best Storefronts in Town: 🚶‍♀️🚙
York Blvd, Highland Park Pt. I

It’s probably not the best in terms of rental price, but York Blvd is a nice street for walking, eating, drinking, and shopping. It’s also home to - our client and a place we’ve spent many nights! We love where we live and the many small businesses we can support.

Nearby is San Pascual Park, which has wetlands that are currently endangered by a proposed project to drain the water to use for a golf course in South Pasadena. Are we surprised? No, but it’s unacceptable. If you live in the area, consider supporting our wetlands!

Live Activations are Modern Merch Magic
Residency Design Journal / March 2026 🪄

A Live Activation (aka a custom merch pop up) is modern merch magic. Whether it’s using heat or chain-stitch, customers leave with items they couldn’t get anywhere else! And it’s actually really affordable because we don’t have to buy too much ahead of time.

Customers/clients can choose what base they want (ie. hat color and style in this case) and also what patches they want. Then it only takes a few minutes to press on the patch with our patented technology. In the case of chain stitch, we can put any words customers like on specific items and garments. ✨

Huge thanks to our friends at 626 Hospitality Group for hosting us and designing custom patches for the night! They also gave us food and delicious ice cream so we were happy!

If you’re ever having an event and want to turn it up a notch, ask us about hosting a Live Activation with custom merch magic!

Sun-drenched spring incoming with friends and neighbors 🌼☀️

Next month, we’ll be announcing an idea called Good Strategy, or the concept that doing/creating good in this world can’t only be about kindness and compassion, but also about strategy.

The Residency Trauma Therapy Program is one example of our goal to think/act both compassionately and strategically. As important as empathy is, it has to be put into action over time. By being more locally-focused, we can create generational influence and effects. For us, that involves a network of clients, partners, and friends all working to bring a better world into reality🌟

Merch for the Spring Equinox: 10 shining stars for the end of winter 🌟🌌

What makes a merch star shine? Durable materials, bold contrasting design, and clear brand world identity!

Plus, all these orders help us sponsor trauma therapy for women transitioning out of homelessness - lowkey the most important part 🔑

Make a Home for Your Merch: Artis Coffee Edition 🌟

Your merch shouldn’t be an afterthought; in fact, there should be no afterthoughts in our businesses at all. All afterthoughts are opportunities for growth, and if your merch is an afterthought, what else is? Who has ever been happy to get a free, thin, cheap promo shirt? Give them something good to wear!

Create a “pop-up” for your own merch in your storefront. Selling merch in-house allows people to feel a part of your brand world. Just like you would create a pop-up version of your company to sell at someone else’s place, make a true home for your merch. 🏠

“Letting yourself feel is the same thing as creating a space/cause for positive change. This is exactly what the Residency Trauma Therapy Program is about. Our mission is to help create the conditions necessary for people to heal. If you want to see someone live a happier life, you don’t just tell them to be happy - you work to create the conditions necessary for happiness. The suffering in our world isn’t going to be alleviated with force, but with well-being, truth, and kindness. This is cause and effect, and this is how a better world comes into being.”

A Picasso Poster Would be Rejected as a Shirt Design in 2026 🖼️
Residency Design Journal / Feb 2026

Thanks to your support, we’ve passed 400 Sponsored Therapy Sessions and 14k Supportive Employment Hours! It hasn’t been easy, but our mission is to help create the conditions necessary for people to heal. If you want to see someone live a happier life, you don’t just tell them to be happy - you work to create the conditions necessary for happiness. The suffering in our world isn’t going to be alleviated with force, but with well-being, truth, and kindness. This is cause and effect, and this is how a better world comes into being. ✨

This month, we’re showing off our custom patch capabilities and making somewhat controversial statements about Pablo Picasso, Scammy Business, and the darker side of alien exploration. Hope you enjoy!

Residency Design Journal / Jan 2026:
Ty’s Design Diary - I Fell in My AS Colour Stencil Sweatpants… 🚶

January 1, 2026 – January 22, 2026

“What is sculpture? What is painting? What is merch? People hang onto the old ideas as if the artist’s role weren’t precisely to create new ones.” Pablo Picasso

✍️ I fell while walking across the street in my brown stencil sweatpants, and they didn’t have a mark or scuff on them. My knee was bleeding, but the pants were unscathed. I haven’t fallen in years, so I was surprised by both the fall and the durability of the pants.

✍️ In similar news, my mom and I both wear the AS Colour stencil sweatpants now. I got her some for Christmas so I’ll get her review next month along with my aunt’s review of the AS Colour relax crew sweatshirt - she almost seemed confused by how nice the fabric was.

✍️ Wholesale companies like AS Colour have made custom merch quality so much better than it used to be. Custom merch can now be some of the best items a person owns. It feels so much better to give friends customers and staff really nice merch than cheap giveaways.

✍️ Is it me or is Brown having a moment? We’ve had a few clients using varying shades of brown and it’s really Vibing.

✍️ One of those aforementioned shades is the comfort colors garment dye tee used by Highland Park brewery. The comfort colors garment dye is having a legendary run. Why? Fit, fabric quality, color options, and something mysterious. There’s something truly unknown about great art, design, and branding, but the answer to any mystery is based on cause and effect!

✍️ I’d like to also recommend the AS Colour relax zip hood - a very nice unisex, relaxed fit without feeling too oversized. The zip adds a subtle differentiator.
