Our retreat didn't go as planned, a second wave of newcomers joined mid-hike, so we circled up again right there on the trail and gave everyone a chance to share their wellness month declarations. Instead of throwing off the morning, it doubled it. Two circles, two sets of honesty, one shared hillside under the pink pepper trees by the time everyone met up.

That's the part we keep coming back to. The wellness didn't get diluted by more people showing up, it multiplied.

Stay tuned for the next one πŸ’šπŸ’™

So this August, we're skipping the solo version and doing it the way we always do, together.

Real wellness isn't a single afternoon of quiet. It's your nervous system settling because you're surrounded by people instead of isolated from them.

It's your body remembering what it feels like to move outside, in fresh air, without a screen between you and the moment.

That's the kind of reset we believe in, and it happens best in a group.

Come experience it with us this August.

At our last opening circle, we handed the mic to the people who show up for this community.

Swipe through and hear it in their words πŸ’šπŸ’™

The trail matters, but the circle is where people actually find each other.

And with August being National Wellness Month, we're gathering the same way we always do, with a hike, and a yoga wave practice. No mat skills needed and no pace to keep up with, just a willingness to show up as you are.

We'd love for you to come sit in the circle with us.

August 1st we're back at Kenneth Hahn for our First Saturday Mini Urban Retreat, and this one's for National Wellness Month, except our version involves a trail, a group, and a lot less alone time.

Hike. Yoga wave. Picnic. Circle. That's it. That's the wellness plan.
Bring water. Bring layers. Bring yourself, tired or not.

We've grown because of you guys. Word of mouth. Friends bringing friends. People posting about us because they wanted to, not because we asked them to.

So if this is landing in front of you right now, that's kind of the sign.

We're looking for volunteers, interns, board members. If you're into hiking and yoga, or even just curious, come out. See what we're about. See where you fit.

A little glimpse from Saturday's Hike to Yoga Retreat. πŸ’šπŸ’™

Before we hit the trail, we gathered in a circle and took a moment to introduce ourselves.

Nancy and Laura shared a little about their backgrounds, and it reminded me why this moment matters. Every person who joins us brings a different story, a different perspective, and a different path that led them here. Thank you both for sharing yours. 🩷

Later, those stories found another way to be shared around the table during our Culture Picnic under an avocado tree. Everyone brought something from their culture or background, and every dish had a story behind it. It felt like another way of saying, *"This is who I am"

Thank you for showing up, sharing your stories, and making this community what it is. πŸ’šπŸ’™

People always want to tell me yoga is just a workout. Just stretching, just breath.

But that's never been true for me. This practice is a tool. And a tool that actually works is going to make you more clear. More focused. More sure of what you stand for.

I don't think yoga stays on the mat. I think it's preparation for everything else.

I got to talk about this more with Laura Wittcoff on the Small & Gutsy podcast β€” full conversation linked below πŸ‘‡

If you can breathe, you can do yoga. That's the whole practice. That's it. That's the whole bar.

The Diversity Picnic just got a home. πŸ₯‘

A Hike to Yoga board member and monthly trail regular opened their home for our July 18 Culture Picnic and we are not taking that for granted.

Come hike with us at Kenneth Hahn, move through a yoga wave practice, and then gather under an avocado tree to share something from your culture. Food, a song, a story β€” whatever piece of home you want to bring to the table.

This July, we're doing something we've never done before.

After our hike and yoga wave practice, we're spreading out a blanket and hosting a Diversity Picnic β€” one dish from every culture in this community. No recipe required. No potluck theme. Just bring something from where you come from and come ready to share a little of who you are.

This is what community looks like on the land.
