Kesem at UCLA Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer.

Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a parent's cancer have space, connection, and support to rediscover the joys of childhood. Our mission is to support children through and beyond their parent's cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Camp Kesem at UCLA was founded in 2004 and supports children in the Los Angeles community by providing Camp Kesem, two free week-long summer camp experiences, and year-round Through and Beyond support services. Camp Kesem at UCLA is operated by 100 student volunteers and serves 250 campers ages 6-18 per year. Kesem operates at more than 130 chapters coast-to-coast. Its programs and services are all funded by generous donation from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Furthermore, due to Facebook's donation settings, we cannot re-allocate funds raised through the platform to a specific chapter after they are received.

Kesem is a nationwide organization that provides a completely FREE summer camp, as well as year-round support for kids who have been impacted by a parent or caregiver’s cancer.

These three shining stars are the glue of Kesem and serve as our fearless guides, keeping us on track throughout the entire year. Whether its overseeing the logistics for every part of camp or supporting all of our counselors, they play a vital part in ensuring that our campers have a safe and fun week at camp!!💙💚

On the Development side, Quokka, Zelda, Meatball, Bibble, and Chestnut work hard to empower our counselors and their fundraising efforts, while also coordinating large-scale fundraising events to spread generosity and magic for our campers all year long!🐛 Every dollar that we raise is safely recorded of by our Treasurers, Watchdog and Manifest, ensuring that our finances are well-organized and keeping us on track💰💚💙

The Outreach team of Pickles, Lallo, Snoopy, Penguin, and Plum spread Kesem love far and wide by maintaining relations with camper families and community members💙💚 Working hard alongside them is Lucky, our YRS coordinator, who keeps the Kesem magic alive all year for our campers through the Virtual Cabin Chat program!!🐛🦋

Throughout the year, these four work restlessly to plan an inspiring and impactful night at which the Kesem community comes together to share solidarity for our mission to support campers through a loved one’s cancer. On the Operations side, Dino, Toaster, and Goku work to schedule every moment we share together in camp activities, making sure that things run smoothly for all of our campers and counselors throughout camp.
