Breaking news: SB 1167 has been signed into law! 🎉
This bill draws a clear line between legal e-bikes and faster, more powerful motor vehicles, and makes it harder for companies to market motorcycles and mopeds as “e-bikes.”
Clearer definitions, accurate labels and appropriate safety standards will help keep unsafe vehicles off our streets without restricting legal e-bikes.
Thanks to our partners on this bill California Bicycle Coalition Streets Are For Everyone and PeopleForBikes.org and to bill author Senator Catherine Blakespear who has championed this policy and legal e-bikes from the beginning!
