Storyline: Audience members are invited to relax and enjoy a picnic in the park before the play begins. Unbeknownst to them, the play has already begun. Our characters interact with the audience and as the story unfolds we are led through the fantastical imagination of a young girl, JB, & her team of fairies who transform the park into a magical kingdom. They make powerful potions and encourage the kingdom members to work together to save their land. Through the play we learn the importance of our local parks, the power of community and experiencing life with wonder and imagination.
CAST SHOULD BE DIVERSE, ANIMATED AND WELL-VERSED IN IMPROV. WE ARE LOOKING FOR ACTORS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT ART AND COMMUNITY ACTIVISM.
JB - (Female, 7-9 yrs old. Any Ethnicity) a quiet adventurer with a tendency to escape to her fantastical fairytale land when faced with real world injustices. Though this is a limited speaking role, this character runs the show as we see the world through her eyes as her imagination takes over.
MELVIN/WISE WIZARD - (Male, 50s+. Any Ethnicity) a homeless veteran who is cheerful and wise with a knowing look in his eye, despite his circumstance. A warm peaceful soul with a strong presence. Think a Neil deGrasse Tyson meets Santa Claus.

SANDER/COURT MUSICIAN - (Male, 20s-40s. Any Ethnicity) an introverted musician who comes to the park to play and write music. He sees the world as a dark place and there’s nothing he can do about it. GLENDORA/GOOD WITCH - (Female, 30s. Any Ethnicity) an eccentric artist who conjures up the park’s muses to create her art. She’s melodramatic, whimsical and a little dark. Think Helena Bonham Carter and Eva Green’s larger than life portrayals.
GREEN FAIRY - (Male/Female, Any Age. Any Ethnicity) the ringleader of the three, elegant and nurturing. One of JB’s three imaginary friends at the park who is a part of her fantasy world. The fairies are very animated and move gracefully. They play with bubbles and dance with trees. The fairies help transform characters into their magical counterparts and assist with audience participation. YELLOW FAIRY - (Male/Female, Any Age. Any Ethnicity) always a little skittish and fearful. One of JB’s three imaginary friends at the park who is a part of her fantasy world. The fairies are very animated and move gracefully. They play with bubbles and dance with trees. The fairies help transform characters into their magical counterparts and assist with audience participation.
RED FAIRY - (Male/Female, Any Age. Any Ethnicity) fiery and a little hot tempered. One of JB’s three imaginary friends at the park who is a part of her fantasy world.
