digital library, a variety of equipment including a blending board, drum carders, an electric bobbin winder, combs and a hackle, and, of course, our newsletter. Our April meeting is Saturday, April 25 starting at 10am. Siren Song Fleece Works is a small-batch wool mill offering processing services for wool, alpaca, angora and more, with no minimum order size! Owner Meredith Cherry is committed to providing personalized customer service and to environmentally-friendly practices. At the GLASG meeting, we will be offering a curated selection of handspun yarn, roving, and local handmade gifts. Members will also have the opportunity to work with Meredith on designing your own art batts at our brand-new ‘spinner’s smorgasbord.’  Ready to clean up your wool stash? Drop off your fleeces at the meeting for custom processing.

Our program in March will be all about Combo Spinning — what defines a combo spin, different techniques that can be used to achieve different looks in your combo yarn, and some ideas for finished products. Combo spinning is just the practice of combining two or more different colorways and/or fibers together, resulting in a new blend of your own. We’ll look at some examples and hopefully inspire you to try some different techniques. If you have some finished yarn or projects made with a combo spin that you’d like to share, please bring them!

To facilitate the combo spinning, we’re doing a fiber swap!

Bring only wool and mostly wool blends. Please, no cotton, no mohair, no 100% silk, no cashmere/yak/camel/bison/vicuna— please just wool and nice wool blends. This is not a time to get rid of felted, yucky fibers that you’d never spin yourself. But it is a time to give up those colorways that you know are not your favorites

Bring only clean, pest-free fiber. If you think it might have issues, DON’T bring it.

Bring dyed commercial top or roving. Since the point of this combo spin is to play with different colors, bringing natural-colored fibers kind of defeats the purpose. Solids are okay, but it would be preferable to have some really great colorways to play with.

Bring at least 2 ounces. Split your fiber into 1 ounce strips. We’ll have scales at the meeting if you can’t do it at home.

We will also have as a vendor, so be prepared for some gorgeous fiber!

We’re bringing back the guild spinalong for our February program! This year, we’ll be exploring art yarns together. Whether you’re an art yarn expert or a texture newbie, this is the spinalong to get your creative juices flowing! Instead of the guild spinning the same colourway in combed top, we’ll card our own batts, spin whatever art yarn inspires us, and share our finished yarn and projects during the October meeting. To keep the spinalong cohesive, please find a nature-related photo that speaks to you and inspires you to create. Keep this photo in mind as you choose colours and inclusions for your batt and think about what kind of art yarn you’d like to spin. Seeing everyone’s finished yarns compared to the inspiration photos will be so fun!

will be vending fiber in 0.5-1oz increments so that you can blend and layer several colours. Please also feel free to bring your own fiber. This is the perfect time to pull out your fiber and yarn scraps, wool locks, sparkly bits, etc for textured inclusions in your batt. The guild will provide some additional fiber and have the drum carders out to use.

If you have any art yarn examples to share, please bring them to the meeting! We’d love to see what you’ve created and learn any tips or tricks you might have.

Our January program on Saturday, January 24th, will be Show & Share, then Plan Your Year! Bring your most satisfying or challenging project from 2025 and share tips, tricks, and personal successes. Did you spin a breed study or focus on a particular drafting technique? Did you travel and learn about fiber traditions from another place? Let’s learn from each other and share the knowledge. If you submitted anything to a judged competition or county fair, please also bring that to share with the group! Questions to consider: What did you learn from your spinning this year? What challenged you, and what brought you joy? Did you discover something about the fiber, yourself, or the process of spinning?

As we learn what fellow members spun in 2025, this is a great opportunity to think about your 2026 projects. You might hear about someone’s project and be inspired to do something similar this year. A bingo board is a fun way to set goals for the new year without being too restrictive! We’ll have blank bingo pages and a list of prompts so that you can fill out your own personalized board. What do you want to try this year? Do you want to stash down or finish certain WIPs? These goals can be as challenging or easy as you like.
