Today is the day of a historic referendum in Ireland, a vote on whether to repeal the 8th Amendment, which is one of the most restrictive constitutional abortion bans in the world.

The election—a test of the Catholic Church’s grip on the country—will determine whether Irish women will continue to be shamed and coerced if they don’t want to carry their pregnancies to term.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS - We need your help. Please take a minute—literally: just copy, paste, and send!—to show much needed support for the CALIFORNIA STILLBIRTH BILL AB 2259, which will provide parents who experienced a stillbirth up to $2,000 in tax credit to help cover their medical bills and final arrangement costs.

We’ve included an email template in a Google Doc that can be copied and pasted into your own message. https://docs.google.com/document/d/14zCSeXFxmao-OseSTMHygh356t5oIHLpqr8z1vIAY5E/edit?usp=drive_web&ouid=104872739317222782543

Please send emails by Friday, May 11. As of now, this bill will be heard on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. The need for letters of support and testifiers for this presentation is urgent! For those who live in the Sacramento area, consider going to support the bill at the Capitol.

Birth doulas!!! We are currently staffing our team for the new year. If you are interested in supporting mamas coming in through the LA Doula Project and are able to commit to attending 4 births between January and June, you should attend one of our (casual) in person interviews! Either:
Sunday December 10th 2-4pm at Bricks and Scones - 403 N Larchmont Blvd (Larchmont Village)
OR
Saturday December 16th 1-3pm at Cafecito Organico - 534 N. Hoover St (Silverlake)
We do require that you have completed an in-person birth doula training, but you do not have to be certified! You are welcome to use LADP births in your certification process. If you are interested in attending one of the gatherings, please RSVP by emailing: [email protected]. Send any questions you have that way too! We are especially looking for doulas who speak Spanish fluently and/or have already attended some births.
