Join us at the Larry Itliong AAPI Coalition Community Meeting on Tuesday, August 25th, from 5:30-7:00 pm. This online forum brings together community leaders, organizers, advocates, and members to learn about reclaiming and uplifting the true history of the farmworkers movement and its diverse members and leaders. We'll discuss the campaign to rename Cesar Chavez Day as Farmworkers Day, recognizing the collective power, sacrifice, and leadership of farmworkers who shaped the labor movement. Don't miss it! On July 25th, we marched alongside our immigrant allies and community members to honor the lives of Lorenzo and Johan, whose deaths are a devastating reminder of the human cost of ICE enforcement.

Carrying 70 symbolic coffins, our community marched from Los Angeles City Hall to Placita Olvera in DTLA for a vigil to remember the many lives lost as a result of unlawful ICE enforcement and unjust immigration practices.

We refuse for their names to be forgotten. We demand accountability and justice!

Worker Spotlight: Meet Susie and Priscilla, Two Caregivers Fighting for Justice

Susie Rabana is a caregiver working in a residential care facility. When she began talking with her coworkers, she realized that they were all experiencing the same issues with unfair pay. Instead of facing it alone, Susie decided to join her coworkers in standing up for their right to be treated fairly and paid fairly for their labor. Knowing that others were willing to fight alongside her made a difficult decision feel possible. Her experience is a reminder that collective action, education, and perseverance can lead to justice.

Priscila never expected to be a part of a wage theft fight. But when she and her fellow caregivers realized they had all been underpaid for years, they chose to stand together rather than stay silent.

For Priscila, the victory wasn’t just about back wages—it was about reclaiming power and inspiring other caregivers to stand up, too.

Happening Now: Press Conference Announcing ASG Workers' Victory --- Caregivers Win $3.5M Settlement in Wage Theft Case

Pilipino Workers Center (PWC) is celebrating a major victory for 154 care workers of the ASG group of companies, who are set to receive a total of $3.5 million in restitution for stolen wages, damages, and civil penalties for labor violations. The U.S. Department of Labor reached the $3.5 million settlement with Angelique S. Gradney and Stephen Gradney, the owners of multiple residential care, hospice, and home health companies operating in Southern California. Records have shown that the owners have committed several labor violations, such as failure to pay minimum wage and overtime pay, maintaining inaccurate payroll records, and retaliating against employees who have exercised their rights in the workplace. The settlement agreement also requires the owners to amend their payroll and timekeeping systems to ensure compliance with California labor laws.

This settlement is a huge victory for care workers and a significant step towards holding employers accountable for injustice and unfair treatment in the workplace. It also serves as a reminder that all workers have rights, and that when workers fight, we win!
