It’s with inexpressible sadness, pain and tears that I need to inform you that armed thieves from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, stormed our Institute De Montfort for the Handicapped (Deaf and Mute). As of now, all vehicles, livestock, etc., have been stolen.

The sisters (Daughters of Wisdom) and the children have evacuated our beautiful place of ministry, which educates, houses, and provides developmental/vocational skills to the large community of deaf/mute children, their families, and their surrounding neighbors in Croix-de-Bouquette.

I’m told that the sisters and children are safe (?), thanks be to God.

It was following the earthquake of 2010, one which literally wiped out most of the country, that I came in touch with the ministry of Haiti. Since then, after the original school was destroyed and the kids were all moved to a farm, the personal tug of the Holy Spirit to Haiti began. Along with joining one of the greatest global responses to a nation that has already been plagued with devastation after devastation, the rebuilding and relocation of the Daughters of Wisdom School for deaf and mute children took root. For almost 15 years of going back and forth to “the happiest place on earth” I am sad. Though the kids couldn’t speak words, it was the loudest place of joy on earth!

The gangs of Port-Au-Prince are young people whose goodness has not been nurtured and who are easily satisfied with whatever force of wealth, fame, and power comes at them. This has been the case for many years there and globally. Forgive them, Father; they know not what they're doing…or becoming.

We are warriors for that Golden Goodness that are under attack, again. Please pray. Nurture the real Goodness of your kids and grandkids; even if they don't like it. Be creative! Help others nurture their kids and grandkids. Please support the nurturing of our human and sacred “software” that holds the Real Goodness given to All.
