One year later, the burden day laborers carry is heavier than ever.

For many immigrant workers, sacrifice has always been part of the journey. Since arriving in this country, they have worked long hours, accepted difficult jobs, and pushed through challenging circumstances in hopes of creating a better future for their families.

Despite everything, what continues to motivate him, like many other immigrant workers, is simple: his family.
At the end of the day, he shares that fulfillment comes from knowing there is someone who will be there for them, someone who will support their education, protect their well-being, and help ensure they have opportunities he never had.

Like so many day laborers, he continues showing up every day not because the work is easy, but because the people he loves are counting on him.
His story is a reminder that behind every worker standing on a corner is a person carrying immense responsibility, making sacrifices, and doing everything possible to provide for their family.

As we mark one year since June 6, we invite you to listen to the voices of day laborers, honor their resilience, and stand with the communities continuing to fight for dignity, safety, and the right to earn a living.

One year after June 6, the corner looks different.

Work is harder to find. The uncertainty is constant. Fear remains in the back of their minds. Many day laborers spend hours waiting for an opportunity that may never come, all while carrying the weight of providing for their families.

In this second video of our series, one of our compas shares what life has looked like since the raids and why he continues showing up every day despite the challenges. Like so many day laborers, he works long hours, faces the risk of wage theft, and now must navigate the fear created by ongoing attacks on immigrant communities.

His message is simple: listen to our stories.
Too often, people see day laborers standing on a corner but never stop to understand the sacrifices, resilience, and determination behind every person waiting for work.

As June 6 approaches, we invite you to hear directly from the workers whose lives have been forever changed and to stand with the communities continuing to fight for dignity, safety, and the right to earn a living.
As we mark this anniversary, we invite you to stand with immigrant families once again. This work is only possible because of people who believe immigrant communities deserve safety, dignity, and justice.

As we approach June 6, we remember the raids that shook our communities and the lasting impact they continue to have on day laborers one year later.

For the first video in our three-part series, we sat down with our Labor Outreach Organizer to talk about what has changed since the raids—from the challenges of finding work and supporting families to the fear and uncertainty that many day laborers continue to carry every day.

But this story is also about resilience. It’s about the workers who continue showing up, supporting one another, and fighting to preserve the dignity and humanity of their community despite ongoing attacks.
Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing stories directly from our day laborer community whose lives were forever changed last summer. Their experiences deserve to be heard.

Because of supporters like you, our communities were not left to face these challenges alone.. Your support helps sustain the organizing, resources, and advocacy that day laborers rely on every day.
