Hunger Action Los Angeles-HALA

Hunger Action Los Angeles-HALA Hunger Action LA (HALA) works to end hunger and promote healthy eating through advocacy, direct service, and organizing.

Hunger Action LA (HALA) works with low income people, nonprofit organizations and concerned residents to educate public officials about powerful anti-hunger legislation in conjunction with other groups statewide through the California Hunger Action Coalition (CHAC). HALA convenes members monthly to determine campaigns on fighting hunger locally, provides training on anti-hunger policy, sponsors th

e Hollywood Community Action Network, a group of homeless and formerly homeless persons, and collaborates with numerous organizations to end hunger in LA and promote healthy eating. HALA also publishes the PEOPLES GUIDE TO WELFARE HEALTH AND OTHER SERVICES. Published since the late 1970s, the Peoples Guide has become the standard guidebook of public social services for people working in the field, people in need of help, and those just helping their neighbors.

These cuts can affect summer meal programs for children.

Each of these positions are critical to making sure the LA City parks stay well maintained and provide critical services to communities across the city.
