Join us for an unforgettable evening of community, impact, and fine dining with award-winning chefs.. Andy Nakano is once again bringing together an extraordinary lineup of celebrated Los Angeles executive chefs, each contributing their culinary talents to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience benefiting Kizuna.🥂🍾🥃

Taste of Kizuna is our biggest annual fundraiser, and this year our goal is to raise $80,000 to sustain Kizuna’s 2027 cultural and leadership programming for youth and young professionals in our community.

Wrapping Up NCI! ✨

After wrapping up their internships, the LA, SF, and SJ cohorts came together for one final retreat to close out the Nikkei Community Internship (NCI) 2026 program! 🤩

Over four days, the interns explored both San Jose and San Francisco Japantowns through walking tours led by each city’s respective cohort (special shoutout to tōno coffee project for the caffeinated welcome to NorCal!)

It was inspiring to see the many ways Japanese American communities across each region continue to work hard to keep their communities thriving and growing. More importantly, it was a chance to celebrate the connections we made, thank our amazing community partners, and say goodbye to friends who made this summer so special. 🥹 The interns also had an unforgettable San Jose Taiko workshop led by PJ and Roy Hirabayashi, where we got to experience the power of community and connection first hand.

Many thanks to all of the community partners, mentors, organizers, and everyone who continues to put in the hard work to make this program possible every summer. We couldn’t have done it without you!!! 💖💖💖

A look back at the Nikkei Community Internship Mid-Program Retreat in LA! ☀️

Though their trip was brief, the San Jose and San Francisco cohorts had the chance to explore historic Little Tokyo with tours led by the LA interns. Together, they stayed at the Miyako Hotel, visited the Go For Broke National Education Center, and enjoyed some of Little Tokyo’s favorite local eats (and lots of matcha). 😊

To wrap up the trip, everyone cooled off from the summer heat at Higashi Honganji’s Obon Festival with refreshing shave ice while enjoying the festivities. 🍧✈️

LAST DAY OF 2026 KIZUNA SUMMER CAMPS!🥹👏🩷

We’re so so thankful to our wonderful counselors and campers and community at WLA, who truly ended our summer season with a bang💥💪 Special occasions all around with Pie-the-Counselor, Nicknaming Ceremony, and an Open House full of 8th grade speeches, a nisei week grand parade, and a taiko performance!🥁❣️

It went by so fast and we have so much content to remember this year by, so stay tuned!!🩷 And we hope to see you all next summer👋☀️

Little Tokyo Field Trip was like a dream~✨

What a fun, smooth day in our beloved Japantown with our WLA summer campers!!🥹🩷 They truly took in all of the sights and shops and legacy that Little Tokyo had to offer👏 Special thanks to WWII Camp Wall Monument for preparing our campers for the day with an important JA history lesson!

Even after the long day, our counselors put on an exciting Talent Show as a gift to their campers for being so good today! It was an array of different acts, like dance battles, mind reading, and push up contests???🤯💃🕺👯‍♂️🔮💪
