Moby has announced that he will donate 100% of his fee from Coachella to animal rights organisations.

The electronic music icon said his “main job in life” is being an animal rights activist, and that he wants to use both the money and attention from his Coachella performances to support causes he believes in.

The money will be split between four organisations: Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Mercy For Animals, The Humane League and Direct Action Everywhere.

Moby has been vegan since the late 1980s and has supported animal rights for decades. In 2024, he also donated all profits from his sold-out European tour to similar organisations.

The artist performed on the Mojave stage during the first weekend of Coachella and is returning again for the second weekend today. He is also the only artist from the original 1999 Coachella line-up still performing at the festival in 2026.

METOODJS has launched a fundraiser to support victims of sexual assault and sexist violence within the electronic music scene.

The group was created earlier this year to provide a trusted network for people who have experienced abuse, harassment or assault in clubs, festivals and the wider dance music industry.

Since launching, METOODJS says it has already received more than 300 testimonies from victims, with some now taking legal action against the people accused.

The organisation renewed its calls for testimonies in February during the fallout from the hard techno scene’s recent movement, when several DJs were accused of sexual assault.

METOODJS has now become an officially recognised association under French law, allowing it to move from informal support to a more structured system backed by lawyers, psychologists and media professionals.

The new Listen Support Act fundraiser aims to help victims access legal advice, psychological care and other support without financial barriers.

According to the group, one of its priorities is making sure victims can come forward in a safe environment without worrying about the cost of getting help.

METOODJS also says it plans to remain transparent about how the money is used while protecting the anonymity of the people involved.

The number of testimonies already received suggests this issue is far bigger than many people inside electronic music have been willing to admit.

A new project is asking people who were part of the 1990s rave scene to come forward with memories, photos, flyers and recordings from that era.

The project, called Mega Mega: Suburban Sound Revolution, aims to document the underground electronic music culture of the 1990s and preserve stories that may otherwise be lost.

Organisers are particularly interested in hearing from people who were involved between 1989 and 1999, whether they were DJs, promoters, clubbers, pirate radio figures or regular ravers on the dancefloor.

The project will explore how electronic music grew through record shops, pirate radio stations, local DJs and illegal warehouse parties, helping shape the wider UK rave scene.

Organisers say many important stories from that period have never been properly recorded and want to make sure the people who helped build the culture are recognised.

The initiative recently launched with a special event featuring artwork inspired by rave culture, while a travelling installation will also collect voice messages and personal memories from people who lived through the era.

The project is expected to lead to a major exhibition later this year, bringing together archive material, sound, photos and first-hand accounts from one of the most important periods in dance music history.

This is not a treehouse — it’s a dance floor grown from a tree.

In Germany, rare Tanzlinden were shaped into living gathering spaces for music, meetings, and village festivals. The famous example in Limmersdorf was planted in 1686 and is still tied to a centuries-old local tradition.
