🚛🔋 California's Clean Air Act waivers cut pollution, create , and move us closer to the zero-emissions transportation future for which our has long advocated. Stripping the state of its ability to set its own clean air standards would set us back significantly, to the detriment of public health and the economy. We are grateful to Senator Adam Schiff, Senator Alex Padilla, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for taking to the Senate floor today to fight for our communities!

We want to thank Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles Department of Water & Power CEO & Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones for their leadership in support of our Transportation Electrification Partnership (TEP) and Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) goals. We look forward to working with them in these next crucial years ahead of 2028 to continue to advance our ZE transportation and clean energy goals!

âś… Hit our goal to create more than 100,000 green jobs an entire year early.

✅ Increased L.A.’s EV charging infrastructure

âś… Worked to reduce emissions with the goal of hitting 100% clean energy by 2035.

What else have we accomplished this year to build a greener LA?

⚡️We’re getting cleaner energy, cheaper — just last month we opened a new large-scale solar installation and battery storage system, which means cheaper and cleaner power for more than 250,000 homes.

🌧️ More rain means more opportunity – and we CANNOT waste our most precious resource. Since I took office, LA has captured 82 billion gallons of rain water – that’s 63 billion gallons more than the two years prior. The City’s water demand per person has also DECREASED 20 gallons per person over the past decade.

🚛 Down in San Pedro, more than 400 zero emission heavy duty trucks have been added this year to the Port of Los Angeles’ truck registry, moving forward on the goal of using all zero emission trucks at the Port by 2035. Thanks to close federal partnership, we also helped secure the single largest federal environmental investment the Port has ever received.

🤝 We’ve made good progress this year to combat the climate crisis – MORE green jobs, MORE green infrastructure, and MORE clean power that’s cheaper for L.A.

Fueled in part by two stimulating panels and an insightful keynote address from CEO and Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones, our Fall Power Day fostered prescient discussions exploring ways to accelerate the transition to clean energy in LA and beyond.

Thank you panelists for joining us at the La Kretz Innovation Campus earlier this month!

This week members of our Transportation Electrification Partnership (TEP) are participating in a professional field study trip to Europe. Our delegation includes policymakers, industry leaders, and transportation experts, and they are stopping in London, Oslo, and Munich to meet with European counterparts to exchange ideas and study models for transportation electrification and zero-emissions goods movement.

The delegation will share key learnings from our Zero Emissions 2028 Roadmap ( ), which sets bold targets to accelerate transportation electrification and zero emissions goods movement by the time the world arrives in Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Collectively, TEP has committed to bold climate action and cleaner air not just for the Games, but to benefit all Angelenos–especially frontline communities–for decades to come. Check out our by clicking the link in our bio!

The first stop in London was a big success. Thanks for meeting with the delegation, Sadiq Khan.

🌍 Why have we tied the region's transportation electrification goals to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games?
🎯 How can we put forth a bold idea of how to get more electric buses manufactured in the US to lower costs and funding to bring them—along with charging, bike lanes, and shared mobility—to LA for the Games, and after distribute them to transit agencies nationally?
🏋️ What can Greater LA do to show the world a model for zero emissions mobility and goods movement?

LACI President & CEO Matt Petersen and former CARB Chair Mary Nichols tackle these questions and more in a hot-off-the-press Op-Ed from the LA Times, outlining what LA needs to produce a (nearly) zero-emission Olympic Games.

Read the full piece here:

Los Angeles will need federal funding to get the electric buses, charging stations and more that will ensure cleaner air for everyone coming to the 2028 Games.

With the Paris Olympics set to begin this week, we are laser focused on making progress toward the bold targets we hope to achieve by the time the world arrives in LA for the 2028 Games.

We recently hosted Spectrum News 1 SoCal at the launch of our new EV Reliability Training Hub with ChargerHelp! to share some of these efforts. LACI President & CEO Matt Petersen discussed our bold Transportation Electrification Partnership targets and how we are convening key regional stakeholders to achieve them, and Evette Ellis highlighted the ways in which ChargerHelp! is working to ensure that chargers work when drivers need them.

The Spectrum team also stopped by LACI alumni company Evolectric check out their new facility and to hear from Jakson Alvarez about how the company is converting commercial truck fleets from diesel to electric power, helping us advance toward our goal to have 60% of medium duty trucks be electric by the time of the 2028 Games.

Excellent and timely reporting by Sarah Pilla as we gear up to cheer on Team USA in Paris. Check out the feature here ⤵️

Join is on Wednesday, July 10 from 10:00am - 11:00am to learn about our pilot findings and recommendations for those seeking to support greater residential decarbonization efforts.

LACI has partnered with The Energy Coalition and Day One to retrofit 18 low-median income single-family homes and 1 community center in and near the Avocado and Bassett Heights Neighborhood, which is disproportionately
burdened by poor air quality. Hear about best practices for engaging community members to adopt induction stoves, the reasons participants chose to make the switch, as well as the barriers we faced.
