L.A. Camerata

L.A. Camerata L.A. Camerata tells the stories of early modern women.

Inspired by Renaissance-era camerati—philosophical societies that debated aesthetics—our performances blur the boundaries between music and drama, resurrecting lost voices live on stage.

Of all of our accomplishments this past season, we are most proud of the launch of our Kids’ Camerata program. Our pilot program consisted of two after school ensembles at a partnering elementary school, and private string lessons in South LA. Next season, we hope to expand to start a youth harp ensemble with our partners at Harp Center Los Angeles taught by our brilliant artist, Jillian Risigari-Gai . By supporting our Year End Fund Drive, you can give the gift of Early Music to more kids! Visit our linktree in bio.

It’s day two of our Year End Fund Drive, and let me tell you a little more about the season we have planned for next year. In October, back by popular demand, we will bring you another MADWOMEN performance, this time on the theme “Ritual Defiance” with all Greek texts and music. In March, we will stage a reading of Tamzin Elliott’s MEIDELANT about Morgana le Fey’s discovery of her magic and sexuality, paired with excerpts from Purcell’s FAIRY QUEEN. Then, to close out the year, we hope to present a 5-performance run of THE ROMANCE OF LEONORA DORI, with music from the court of Marie d’Medici. These and more are to come, but only with your support. Be a part of the magic by giving to our Year End Fund Drive. There are various ways to give, details at the link in bio.
