📚Legislative Win 📚
Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 1871 (Fong) into law, expanding access to California’s College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Program. Authored by Assemblymember Mike Fong and sponsored by HOPE, AB 1871 removes barriers that can prevent high school students from participating and gives them greater flexibility to earn college credit while still in high school.

The new law streamlines the CCAP application process, removes the principal recommendation requirement, expands course enrollment flexibility, and strengthens reporting on student participation and outcomes.

Thank you to the 22+ organizations that supported this bill alongside us. AB 1871 takes effect January 1, 2027, strengthening pathways between high school, higher education, and careers.
