Fire friends,
After 7 incredible years, Gloria, Diana and I have decided to bring LA Fire Brigade to a close. Due to personal developments (like our spawn), we no longer have the ability to run the group. This decision was difficult to make, but we are hopeful that it will open up space for new artistic endeavors to develop.
We are so proud of everything that is LA Fire Brigade. We are proud of the transcendent art we have created together. We are proud to be a responsible conclave, a nice conclave, a hard-working conclave. But we are most proud of the community that has grown from LAFB. This community has created lasting friendships and collaborations, and it remains strong and deep.
LA Fire Brigade belongs to everyone who has ever been a part of it. This group existed because of you. You worked hard to refine your spinning, percussion, leadership and choreography skills. Some of you even became fire spinners over the course of this journey. Many of you used this conclave as an opportunity for personal and artistic growth, and that commitment and collaboration is really what created the magic of LA Fire Brigade.
Our first gathering in that Venice park years ago feels so far away from the well-oiled machine this conclave has become. I could not have predicted how amazing this journey would be. I have grown tremendously through working on LAFB, and it has been deeply fulfilling, both personally and creatively. Most importantly, LAFB has brought so many wonderful people into my life and introduced me to some of my closest friends. I have so much gratitude to you all for making this happen.
This is a bittersweet moment, as we will miss working with all of you on such a regular basis. Although this remarkable project we created together is ending, we are glowing thinking about the past 7 years and all we have done.
To all of you who gave your time, effort, talent, money, brain space, enthusiasm, creativity and love to LA Fire Brigade: there are not enough words to thank you.
Because of you, we created something wonderful.
With gratitude and love,
Jenn, Gloria and Diana
