Resource: 2026 AAPI Voters Data and Narrative Toolkit
APIAVote and AAPI Data, in collaboration with the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), have produced the 2026 AAPI Voters Data and Narrative Toolkit ahead of this November’s elections. AAPI voters are the fastest-growing voter demographic with tremendous potential to impact the outcome in key races across the country. Outreach to these communities needs to be prioritized, and this toolkit is meant to help elevate that argument to news media, funders, campaigns, elected representatives, and other relevant stakeholders to better understand and engage AAPI communities.
This toolkit provides a standardized, evidence-based, and field-tested set of facts and messaging resources for AAPI community organizers and advocates and will be updated as new data becomes available.
Please revisit this resource and use it to align messaging and outreach efforts to underscore the urgency of AAPI voter engagement and mobilizing communities.

Resource: Voter Education Toolkit
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk has released its official voter toolkit! This toolkit contains content to equip community partners with everything needed to reach and engage L.A. County voters to make their voices heard. Workshop: Informed Nation: Understanding and Addressing Online Mis/Disinformation
Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 5:00pm (PT) | 8:00pm (ET)
Hosted by OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates and Viet Fact Check, this 90-minute virtual workshop will address problematic information that exists both online and offline. They will share tools and strategies to help participants navigate overwhelming or potentially problematic information. This workshop was developed by scholars, journalists, and media producers who have been conducting community gatherings to better understand and address the wide spread of mis-/disinformation online, particularly among intergenerational immigrant and refugee communities. While this workshop does not aim to solve the complex and pervasive communication issues in our world today, the learnings and conversations will prepare participants to mediate polarizing information and problematic narratives.

Happy 88th Birthday, Los Angeles Chinatown!
On June 25, 1938, Los Angeles celebrated the grand opening of "New Chinatown" (centered at Central Plaza, address: 943 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012) after the original community was demolished to make way for Union Station. California Governor Frank F. Merriam officially dedicated and participated in the grand opening. Other dignitaries present were Los Angeles Mayor Frank Shaw and actress Anna May Wong. More than 30,000 attendees gathered for the festivities which featured parades, and firework displays, marking it as the first Chinese district in the U.S. conceived, planned, and owned by Chinese Americans.

Mahjong with LAist

Tuesday, June 23, 6:00-8:00pm (PT), at Blossom Market Hall (264 So. Mission Dr., San Gabriel, CA 91776), LAist will be working with community to host a mahjong event for beginners and mahjong fanatics alike. The first hour will be dedicated to teaching mahjong for beginners along with open play. All in all, it's just a nice, free community event which comes at perfect timing with the surge of interest in mahjong expressed by events at the Langley Senior Center in Monterey Park and at General Lee's in Chinatown, for instance.

Commemorating Vincent Chin

The fatal, racially-motivated attack and murder of Vincent Chin took place in Detroitvand became a landmark case that catalyzed the Asian American civil rights movement. Chin was beaten into a coma on June 19, 1982, and passed away four days later on June 23, 1982, after succumbing to his injuries. This commemoration will be the 44th Anniversary of his death.
