The diagnostic delay for spondyloarthritis can be as long as 14 years. But why, and how can we reduce the time?

Rheumatologist Abhijeet Danve, MD, MHS, an Associate Professor of Medicine at Yale University, and developer of the Axial Spondyloarthritis Screening Tool (A-Tool) discusses why diagnostic delays happen, how the A-Tool screening survey was designed to help identify patterns of inflammatory back pain, and how it may support earlier referral to a rheumatologist.

Living with SpA can take a toll on your well-being, beyond the physical. The fatigue and challenges that come with living with a chronic condition affects your mental and emotional health. It’s important to practice self-care, stay active, connect with others, or engage in any activity to support your well-being.

This month, SAA encourages men living with spondyloarthritis to prioritize their mental health and help break the stigma of speaking out loud about the mental health challenges.
