How can I sum up 10 days of Birthright Israel?
2 busses filled with students, Israeli peers, staff.
10 days filled with inspiration, experiences, surprises.
How do I even begin to choose the highlights?
At Caesarea, beginning to contemplate our connection to this land?
In Tzfat, Learning about the mystics who give our spiritual lives depth and color?
Meeting the Israelis who would become family within just a few days?
Enjoying the beaches and nightlife of Tel Aviv?
The Shuk on Friday afternoon- or on Saturday night?
The ecstatic experience of dancing at the Kotel on Friday night?
The heavy moments - listening to the impromptu story of a bereaved mother on Mt. Herzl, Learning about antisemitism and the Holocaust at Yad Vashem, reliving the horror and honoring the slain at the Nova site?
Floating in the Dead Sea? The water cistern on Massada? Camping in the Bedouin tents? Visiting homes? Volunteering?
Or is it just the little moments? Conversations late into every night, bonding, laughing.
So much goes into these trips, but so much more comes out of them. Lifelong memories. Deepened insights. Changed perspectives.
