Rock and Rescue

Rock and Rescue Rock and Rescue is a non-profit organization which hosts fundraising concerts featuring the hottest bands to promote public awareness of local dog rescue.

All funds raised are given back to local community rescue groups through grants and special awards. We want to create a different reality for homeless animals and to build a future which drastically reduces the number of homeless dogs. By promoting rescue, adoption and spay/neutering, more dogs will be rescued from shelters and given loving, forever homes. We believe that by promoting this messag

e in an entertaining, socially enriching way to a group of people yearning to put their stamp on the world, the crowds will be excited to join in on the mission. Many people making small changes in their own backyards equals huge strides toward a nationwide change to end excessive pet homelessness, and reduce the euthanasia of millions of dogs every day.

After 12 long days of searching for Jimmy's dog, BOOTS, who was stolen by a groomer, Jimmy and BOOTS have been reunited. Jimmy and his beloved service dog, have been fixtures at the START Resale Store in Sherman Oaks, LA for the past 4 years.

The START team put out hundreds of fliers, hired a private investigator, had an attorney file a lawsuit, and worked 24 hours a day to find Jimmy's best friend BOOTS.

We want to thank the media for telling the story. It was a crucial component of getting BOOTS returned. Thank you - Fox 11, KTLA, Daily News, Spectrum News, and NBC 4. Yesterday evening the wonderful Kacey Montoya of KTLA aired a story on Jimmy and BOOTS.

Minutes after the show was broadcast we received a call from an associate of the groomer; the caller said "I have your dog." We phoned Jimmy, raced to meet the associate and she then inquired about the reward! (The lawyers will deal with that!) We are happy to have our BOOTS back.

Jimmy and BOOTS were reunited at midnight this morning and there was not a dry eye anywhere.

START has spent over $16,000 trying to bring BOOTS home. The Private Investigator alone was $14,257.25. We are very disappointed that a person could cause so much heartache for another person and a steadfast, loyal, loving dog, and we wanted to make it right for Jimmy, as BOOTS is all he has in the world.

If anyone would like to donate towards our costs for Jimmy and BOOTS, please go to STARTrescue.org and write BOOTS in the memo.

MISSING or STOLEN: SERVICE DOG TO HOMELESS MAN

Studio City, CA, January 2, 2021 ---- Please help reunite Studio City’s long-time homeless companions Jimmy and Boots. $4,000 Reward.

At approx. 2:30 pm on December 31, 2020, a local woman picked up BOOTS to take him for a bath and do his nails, the brown (chocolate) lab therapy dog that has been a 6 -year companion to homeless Studio City man Jimmy. She had bathed him once before, so she was trusted. But this time she did not return BOOTS.

The woman, Nicole Lawrence, a Toluca Lake resident, is a student groomer at Healthy Spot in Pasadena. She claims that she “lost” BOOTS at the corner of Coldwater and Moorpark, then changed location to Laurel Cyn and Moorpark . Since then, Jimmy, has been hysterically circling the neighborhood by bicycle looking for his canine therapy companion. Joining him are volunteer crews from the START animal rescue organization and neighbors throughout Studio City. Jimmy and BOOTS are known to many area residents and families.
Signs are posted and START is offering a $4000 reward for BOOTS’ return.

There is information suggesting that BOOTS might have been stolen and taken to the Toluca Lake area, so volunteers also are scouring the area around 10878 Bloomfield St. in Toluca Lake.
Anyone with any information about BOOTS, or who may have seen BOOTS, is desperately asked to call, 818 522-7311. Media attention could help reunite this homeless man with his longtime therapy dog companion. Please help.

BEYOND URGENT! This from Cheryl Meyer: Devore (CA) Shelter plans to euthanize 8 dogs today and 8 tomorrow! We need rescues to step up NOW. Our own rescue is full and we need help!

If you can save them, please contact the shelter rescue coordinator Athena Nava at [email protected], or supervisor Greg Beck, [email protected], 909-386-9820, ext. 0. If you need the animal's number/sex/age, leave word in the comments and I will answer.

This is just devastating news as these animals did nothing wrong, except end up at the wrong place. Please step up for these babies. The dogs pictured need commitments by 2 pm today! The shelter said cats will also be euthanized, and they need help, too. Thank you. -Cheryl

Repost: \two weeks ago we saved Queenie, a beautiful black and white cat, from the Devore (CA) Shelter. When we got her she was deathly ill, with scabs on her face and paws, and a severe upper respiratory infection making it difficult for her to breathe. This poor girl has now seen two separate veterinarians, and the treatment for her recovery will be about $1,300 as she needs daily fluids and injections to bolster her immune system. She is currently with a wonderful foster who is taking her in for daily treatments. We need funds to help this girl recover as this was an unexpected and costly expense for our rescue. If you can help, please send any donations to [email protected] (501c3) and put "Queenie" in the notes. Thank you so much. -Cheryl

HELP ME 🙀 I hijacked instagram today - I need out of this shelter ASAP! My time has run out and I want to live! The staff and volunteers have been wonderful with me, but I would love a cozy home and someone to pet and LOVE ME me everyday! Let me Introduce myself, my name is Scully .
You see, I've been at the shelter for over a month, ever since my family brought me here and left me. 😢 I got into a little scuffle with my littermates but I'm sure I was just hungry or looking for attention from my humans. Here at the shelter, I walk by dogs and even went to a outside adoption event and did wonderful. I just mind my own business and don’t even bark when I see other dog friends.
When I first got here, I wouldn't even look up or come out of my kennel. The & are really nice and have been working with me. I'm much better now, I even want to play ball 🎾 but I am still a little sad and missing my family.
I’ve seen the other dogs go away with new families and I wonder, “what is wrong with me?” I know I'm not the youngest guy, but I still have a lot of love to give and life to live! ❤️
I've heard that I am the longest resident and my time is limited to get out of here.
I REALLY want to live and give my love to nice people! Can anyone come SAVE me before it's too late?
My ID number is . I am almost 9 years old and I'm a mix of great dogs called and . I'm already neutered, so I'm ready to jump in a car and go home with you! Shelter says I need to be the only dog in my new home since I was a little grumpy with my previous dog friends at my old home 😐

Thanks for listening to my story! 🐶
