Los Angeles' 2026 Homeless Count points to a growing bottleneck between interim and permanent housing.

In his latest article, Awakening Recovery Executive Director David van der Velde shares why Los Angeles needs a fuller continuum that includes voluntary long-term recovery housing and affordable Phase 2 Recovery Apartments alongside the county's broader housing response.

We support the Los Angeles County Department of Homeless Services and Housing as it works to unify that response and strengthen pathways from crisis to stability, recovery where appropriate, and independence.
