On this day 10 years ago August 14, 2016 our founder colin kaepernick began his peaceful protest against police brutality and systemic injustice. What followed changed the course of his life, ultimately costing him his NFL career because he refused to remain silent in the face of injustice.

In honor of the 10-year anniversary, KYRC is renewing the Million Dollar Pledge—a new $1 million commitment to community organizations, distributed through monthly grants beginning now and continuing throughout 2027.

The initiative builds on Colin Kaepernick’s original Million Dollar Pledge, his 2016 commitment to personally donate $1 million to organizations working in underserved communities. The pledge supported more than 30 organizations across at least 15 cities. The full list of organizations supported through the original pledge can be found at http://kaepernick7.com.

This renewed Million Dollar Pledge carries that work into KYRC’s second decade, creating a platform for new and longtime supporters to invest alongside the organization in the communities leading the work.
