Latino Equality Alliance & Mi Centro

Latino Equality Alliance & Mi Centro The mission of LEA is to advocate for the safety, equity and wellness of the Latinx LGBTQ+ community. We welcome your participation and activism.

The Latino Equality Alliance was established in response to Proposition 8 when Latino LGBT leaders determined they themselves would take on the challenge of increasing support for Latino LGBT people and issues in the Latino and LGBT communities. Everyone (LGBTQ and Straight Allies) is welcome to join our Latino LGBTQ movement for equality. News, events and community action activities will be posted on this group. 🌟Lights On Afterschool Press Conference & Kickoff

Tuesday, October 13th, from 4:00–6:00 p.m at the Southeast-Rio Vista YMCA in the city of Maywood

Join us to celebrate the incredible work expanded learning programs and community partners are doing to support young people and families.🌈

The press conference will include a dialogue between local representatives and youth leaders as well as a reception serving refreshments. 🎉🎉

We hope you can join us! It will be a great opportunity to celebrate the work happening across our communities, connect with partners, and most importantly, hear directly from young people about what they want and need. ❤️ 🫂

This past Friday the 25th marked 100 days since the start of the Lineage Fire, making this an especially important moment to highlight the need for SB 716 to hold corporations accountable and protect our communities‼️

For months, families in Boyle Heights and East LA could not open their windows, could not let their kids play outside, and lived with the stench of rotting food while a multi-billion-dollar company dragged its feet. SB 716 raises the fines, unchanged since 1983, so companies actually feel the pressure to act fast. The bill passed the Legislature. Now it needs Governor Newsom’s signature. Governor Gavin Newsom

🚨Latino Equality Alliance asks Governor Newsom to sign SB 716.
