ARSAC - Fight LAX Expansion

ARSAC - Fight LAX Expansion Help Stop the Expansion of LAX ARSAC is opposed to any plan that will increase the volume of air traffic at LAX; already the 3rd busiest airport in the world.

Objective

To promote the use of our many regional commercial air transport resources including Palmdale Regional Airport, Ontario International Airport, Southern California Logistics, March Inland Port, Palm Springs International, and San Bernardino International in solving the growing air traffic demand which as it stands today is concentrated almost completely at LAX and has become an overwhelm

ing drain on the surrounding infrastructure (traffic on the 405 as an example) as well as a security risk in today’s post 9-11 world. ARSAC supports an alternative which includes expansion of at least one other airport in the region to provide a viable alternative to LAX. Alternate facililties must be in place in the event of an emergency. A regional solution is needed to maintain the economic vitality for all of Southern California as well as to preserve the quality of life and environment for residents and businesses in the communities that surround LAX. History

ARSAC is a grass roots organization formed in 1995. During the past two mayoral elections in the city of Los Angeles, ARSAC developed a massive voter base dedicated to electing a mayor who opposed further expansion of LAX. That voter base was instrumental in electing Mayor Villaraigosa after the incumbent; Mayor James Hahn broke his signed ARSAC pledge to support a regional approach to airport expansion.

Mayoral Candidate Eric Garcetti has joined ARSAC's position against LAWA moving the northern runway closer to Westchester and Playa del Rey. LAWA's proposal would wipe out part of the Westchester business district and reconfigure the intersection of Lincoln and Sepulveda.

Please join ARSAC, Eric Garcetti, Maxine Waters, Bill Rosendahl and Kevin James in our continued fight against LAX expansion.

Eric Garcetti has announced his opposition to moving the LAX outboard runway while backing the other aspects of LAX modernization plan.

Kevin James, the Republican mayoral candidate who came in 3rd in the runoff and who made no bones about his opposition to moving the outboard runway closer to Westchester-PDR, has endorsed Eric Garcetti.
