C-CAP Los Angeles We work with public high schools to prepare at-risk high school students for college and career opportunities in the restaurant and hospitality industry

About C-CAP and Los Angeles-- a national non-profit that prepares at-risk high school students for college and careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry. For the past 25 years, C-CAP has provided job training and internships, scholarships, teacher training, cooking competitions, college and career advising and product and equipment donations. In the 2013-14 academic year it served over 17,500 students in 160 high schools and awarded almost 200 scholarships totaling over $3 million. Through C-CAP’s efforts, a large percentage of our students find rewarding careers in the foodservice and hospitality industry. In Los Angeles, C-CAP was able to work with over 3,000 students in 25 schools and award nearly $625,000 in scholarships in the 2014-2015 academic year. For more information, visit www.ccapinc.org.

In this installment of our All-Star Series, Chef Susan Feniger (Chef Susan Feniger) chats with C•CAP alumna Chef Lasheeda Perry (Lasheeda Perry), Pastry Chef and Owner of Queen of Flavor. Chef Lasheeda shares how her culinary journey began back in high school — and encourages students to explore the many paths hospitality has to offer, even if cooking itself isn’t their only passion. A Johnson & Wales University grad, she’s brought her sweet expertise to the Food Network stage, including a face-off on Beat Bobby Flay. Today, she’s giving back to C•CAP. 🧑‍🍳

Today we had 4 of our top Juniors along with other top Juniors from our other C•CAP locations fly out to NYC for a 4-day Culinary Boot Camp held at Monroe University

All of these students earned a scholarship through our preliminary cooking competition and will get to experience dorm life before returning to school to start their Senior year.

We hope you all enjoy this trip, learn a lot, have fun with this experience and return home ready for your best High School year!

Thank you to Frank C. Costantino for all your help, support and guidance; we couldn’t do this without you! Congratulations to the class of 2027!
