So today, I put my motorcycle accident scene management training to use. I came across an accident that happened seconds earlier (I did not see it) when a car crossed the double yellow and clipped the rear of a Harley with a passenger. The bike had just pulled over (he was with a group from Sacramento) and the rider had just brought his passenger (his wife) to sit at the curb. My training kicked in, giving the 911 dispatcher the exact location, making sure she was alert and not moving, and confirming the paramedics were on their way. I stayed thru the time they got there and saw the rider and his fellow riders afterwards after I had done my errand. I had bagged the broken parts that were on the street and brought to the side and ended up taking them with me to discard, since his hard bag was smashed , as were a few other parts.

It happened in Pacific Ave in Venice. His passenger, his wife, was taken to St. Joseph (an excellent hospital) and the paramedics thought she probably broke her foot. Her leg wasn’t broken (thanks goodness). It could have been much worse.

I gave them my card with my number and told them to keep me posted and I’ll share her prognosis if I hear from them.
