The King-Bremond Scholarship, named in honor of ITMT Founder and Executive Director Jeffrey King and Duane Bremond, is awarded quarterly to support Black LGBTQ+ students pursuing higher education through academic or trade programs.

This quarter’s recipient is Emanuel Thomas, a Los Angeles native and beloved member of the ITMT community. Emanuel is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Loyola Marymount University and aspires to advance social and political change in Los Angeles through law and advocacy.

Emanuel will be recognized and presented with the King-Bremond Scholarship during next Tuesday’s Black Gay Men’s Wellness Month finale. (Tuesday, August 25th Dinner at 6pm Presentation at 7pm)

Last Tuesday, our Brothers Reaching Brothers Power Series continued with “Designer You,” facilitated by Dr. Brent Obleton as part of Black Gay Men’s Wellness Month. 🖤

The evening created space for Black gay men to reflect on personal growth, and what it means to intentionally design the lives we want for ourselves. Participants were encouraged to recognize the power they already possess to shape their own stories and futures.

Inspired by Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” this group will celebrate the individuality, perspectives, and identities of Black gay men in Los Angeles. ITMT Program Manager Prince will facilitate a panel of young leaders as they explore what they want the world to know about them and what makes them truly IRREPLACEABLE.

Laughter is the BEST medicine 😂❤️ This past Tuesday, In The Meantime Men’s Group launched Black Gay Men’s Wellness Month with a special game night event. Understanding the importance of community and joy as it relates to our overall wellness, special guest Sampson McCormick performed a witty and therapeutic stand-up set. The space was filled with community socializing, spades tournaments, vintage arcade games, karaoke, and more. Thank you to everyone who was a part of making this night a success and we’ll see you next Tuesday as we continue to celebrate Black Gay Men’s Wellness Month 🫶🏽
