Meet Peggy Sue 🩷

She was found collapsed on a sidewalk in South LA a few days ago, covered in mats and dirt, suffering from heat stroke. Two incredible good Samaritans stepped in and got her emergency in-home vet care. Without them, she likely wouldn’t have made it. She had multiple heat strokes that first night but she’s stable now and on the road to recovery.

In just a few days she’s already been groomed and seen by a vet, with basic bloodwork done. We’re stepping in to help get her the rest of the way there. She has a tentative vet appointment Wednesday (if we can find a foster by then).

She’s estimated to be 10-12 years old and is an absolute sweetheart. She’s happy, kind, and gentle. She loves short walks and laying at the park.

Her face and spirit reminds us so much of Tiger, a senior we placed a couple years ago who is still loved by everyone who meets him. We think Peggy Sue deserves that same chance.

If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet senior girl, please reach out. Fosters get full support from us: food, vetting, supplies, etc. She just needs a soft place to land.

Apply on our website or send us an email/DM if you’re interested! Thanks everyone!

Foster home needed for Luka! 🐾

Samoyed | Male | 10 years old | Not yet neutered

Luca is a sweet senior who's spent his whole life being loved by his family. He's wonderful with kids, does great with female dogs, and gets along with pups of any size.

He's used to having his people around a lot, so we're looking for a foster who's home often and can give him some company while he settles in.

He'll be neutered soon and ready for adoption right after - help us get him there!

Interested in fostering Luca? Send us DM or fill out a foster application on our website!

Chloe made it to California! āœˆļøšŸ¾ She landed safely last night and is now settled into her foster home, already doing great.

Chloe’s first family pulled her from a shelter just a month ago, got her spayed, fixed her cracked tooth, and gave her the dental care she needed. When they found out she was heartworm positive, they knew their home was too chaotic for the calm she’d need during treatment, and they didn’t feel Texas was the right place for a Samoyed. They made the heartbreaking decision to be a stepping stone in her journey rather than her permanent home. We are so grateful for the love and care they gave her before she came to us.

She has her first vet appointment tomorrow, where we’ll get the ball rolling on her X-rays, microfilaria test, and heartworm treatment plan. The estimate for her full treatment plan is low of $2429 and high of $2729.

We’re happy to share the full vet estimate and flight costs with anyone who’d like to see it, just send us a DM.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

More updates coming as she settles in and starts treatment.

We’ve never done this before, but we’re flying a dog from Texas to California. Meet Chloe!

Chloe is a 3 year old Samoyed. A family in Texas adopted her from a local shelter, got her spayed, fixed her cracked tooth, gave her dental work, and all the works! But then, they found out she’s heartworm positive. Their house has young kids and other dogs, which they ultimately decided is too much chaos for the calm environment she needs during treatment. They also strongly felt that Texas heat was too much for a Samoyed.

So she’s coming to us! Cargo is no place for a dog. So Chloe is flying in the cabin with a companion on July 12th, straight from Texas to her foster home. That flight cost $2,200 on its own.

Once she lands, she needs a microfilaria test, X-rays of her heart and lungs, and heartworm treatment which is going to be $2,000+. We’re asking our amazing community for $5,000 to get Chloe through all of it. We’ve never raised anywhere close to that before, but we’ve also never had a dog like Chloe before!

Follow along and we’ll be posting updates the whole way, flight photos, treatment updates, all of it! If you’re viewing this on Instagram you can donate directly to the fundraiser. If you’d like to donate another way you can visit our website (https://socalsamoyedrescue.org/donate) or click the link in our bio.

Thank you everyone!!

Meet Kaiser 🐾

Kaiser spent three months waiting at the shelter before we got him out about a week and a half ago. He came to us sick and needed antibiotics before anything else could happen, so he spent time in medical boarding to get healthy. Once he was feeling better, we got him groomed and cleaned up, and this week he was neutered.

Yesterday some of our volunteers took him out for the day, and we got to see his personality shine. He walks great on leash and doesn’t pull at all. He was calm with our volunteer and let them pick him up and handle him with no issue. He did great meeting our volunteers dog as well. He sniffed around and checked him out before doing his own thing.

Kaiser is a bit reserved and can take some time to warm up, especially in tighter spaces or around unfamiliar dogs. He’s not aggressive, just cautious, and once he trusts you he’s happy to cuddled and be pet. He’d do best with someone who has experience with shy or slow to warm up type of dogs, or someone who’s willing to go at his pace.

We’re looking for a foster or adopter for Kaiser. If you’re interested, submit an application on our website!

This is Rabbit. He’s a 2 year old Samoyed mix available for adoption in SoCal. He also needs a new foster starting next week because his current foster fam is traveling!

Rabbit is on the shyer side when he first meets people, but he’s not a hard case at all! He just needs a minute to warm up. Once he’s comfortable, he’s calm, sweet, and genuinely easy to have around. He loves walks and gets excited the second the leash comes out. He’s good in the car, not a big barker, and does great alone. He’s happiest when he has outdoor space to hang out in. He loves lounging in the backyard more than anything.

One thing worth knowing: Rabbit is blind in his left eye, most likely from a one time pressure spike (usually from trauma), or possibly something he was born with. His right eye is healthy and not at risk. A veterinary ophthalmologist confirmed no predisposition to glaucoma, his pressures are normal, and both of his follow-up checks both came back clear. It doesn’t slow him down at all.

He’d do best with an active family that gets outside regularly and has a yard. If that’s you, please apply! Link in bio 🐾

Zeus is looking for his next adventure. This handsome 6 year old is coming to us this week from a family who has loved and cared for him deeply. Surrendering him was not an easy decision, and it shows in who he is. He’s well-trained, well-loved, and an all around good boy.

Zeus loves people, loves dogs, loves wrestling, and loves snuggling on the couch. He’ll be your shadow all day and lose his mind with joy every time you walk through the door.

Must have: No cats.
Would love: A backyard to run in.

Foster, adopter, or foster-to-adopt! Please fill out an application on our website if you’re interested! (link in bio)
