Foster or adopter needed for Marshmallow ☁️

Marshmallow is a 3 year old samoyed mix who is friendly with everyone he meets. He’s a happy, social dog who enjoys being around people and has lived with other dogs. He can play a little rough, but also has a gentle side.

He’s potty trained, healthy, and up to date on vaccines.

We’re looking for a foster or adopter who understands that Marshmallow needs structure and consistency. His biggest challenge right now is separation anxiety. He struggles being left alone and will whine or howl, so he’ll do best in a home where someone is around most of the day or can work on building up his independence.

He’s strong on leash and will need continued training, and he is not a fit for homes with cats due to prey drive. Marshmallow is a really good dog who just needs the right setup to succeed. Please reach out if you’re able to foster!

Meet Koda 💛

Koda is a 3 year old Samoyed who is very loved. His family has gone through a significant loss, and his mom is now facing her own physical limitations. She’s making a thoughtful and difficult decision to ask for help so Koda can have the time, structure, and activity he needs.

Koda is a social dog who enjoys other dogs and has been a favorite at his dog daycare. He’s also had professional training and has a solid foundation. He’s an active dog who does best with regular exercise, routine, and companionship.

Since everything changed at home, Koda has become more protective and can be reactive on leash. He also struggles with being left alone. He will need a foster who is comfortable providing structure, consistency, and guidance as he adjusts.

We’re looking for a foster ASAP so we can bring Koda into rescue and support him through this transition.

If you have experience with higher energy dogs and can offer a stable, structured environment, please reach out! If you already have an application on file please email us or send us a DM. If not, then please submit an application on our website and note “Koda”

Meet Moon 🌙🐾

Moon is a 4 year old Samoyed whose family is no longer able to keep him due to a housing change. We’re looking for a foster or adopter ASAP.

Moon is a happy, social guy who loves people and dogs. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be part of everything.

Most of the day he’s calm and easy to have around. When he’s excited, he can jump and bark when meeting new people, pulls on leash, and has that classic Samoyed mischief (digging, testing fences, etc).

He’d do best in an active home that can provide structure, exercise, and consistency.

If you already have an application on file please email us or send us a DM. If not, then please submit an application on our website and note “Moon”

Meet Lullaby 🤍🐾

Lullaby is an easygoing guy and has a great mix of playful and relaxed energy. He loves playing fetch in the yard, carrying around his toys, and going on walks. He walks nicely on leash and would make a great companion for outdoor adventures.

He has a fun, playful side, but he’s just as happy lounging on the couch and relaxing. Once he feels comfortable, he’s a big cuddler who loves being close to his person and resting his head on you.

Lullaby can be a little timid at first, but he warms up with time and continues to grow more confident each day. He does well with other dogs and would likely love a calm canine friend in his future home.

Lullaby is approximately 2 years old and weighs 60 lbs. He is neutered, healthy, and up to date on vaccines.

Update: foster found!

Foster needed starting this Saturday for this gorgeous boy Einstein 😍 Einstein is 3 years old. He’s friendly, affectionate, house trained, and loves attention. He has a lot of energy and can be a little reserved with new dogs at first, but he will play with dogs he knows.

Einstein was recently diagnosed with seizures and may need some monitoring with veterinary guidance, though he has gone several weeks without an episode. His family cares about him deeply but feels they cannot provide the time and exercise he needs, especially with this new diagnosis.

Fostering is temporary and all food, supplies, and veterinary care are covered by the rescue. If you may be able to foster Einstein, please send us a message and/or fill out a foster app on our website!

Thank you everyone 🐾

Update - Foster found! ❤️

Please help spread the word! Cody needs a new foster starting March 9th. His foster mom expected to be his long term foster but those plans changed when she got news her full time remote job was shifting to full time in office. We all decided Cody would be best suited in a home where he’s not left for 8+ hours per day. We have until March 9th to find a new foster home for Cody. Please reach out if you are able to help! 🐾

An update on Lucky and some insight into what happens behind the scenes 🐾

We want to explain why sometimes you’ll see us advocate hard for a dog, and then that dog never actually comes into our care.

That’s what happened with Lucky and a few others recently. Lucky needed to exit the shelter, so we spent several days coordinating behind the scenes and looking for a foster. Yesterday we found a foster and reached out to the shelter to confirm pickup, when we learned Lucky had been adopted earlier that day!

While we’re so happy for Lucky, this is a reminder that until a dog is physically in rescue custody, plans can change quickly. Shelters often operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and outcomes can shift even while rescues are actively preparing.

We rescue responsibly. That means we only pick up dogs when we have a confirmed foster and a solid plan in place. That planning is what allows us to support dogs well once they leave the shelter.

Thank you for understanding, and for continuing to support responsible rescue. And congrats to Lucky and whoever it was that adopted him from the shelter! We hope he gets all the love and care in the world ❤️

Say hi to Alaska!

Alaska was surrendered to West Valley Shelter by her owner due to moving. Her owner stated that she lived in an outdoor dog house her whole life. Because of the condition of her coat, the shelter made the decision to shave her. So while we wait for her coat to grow back you can check out her glamorous pink T-shirts! Alaska is cute and she knows it 🩷

When she arrived at her foster home she was just so happy to be indoors and to get belly rubs and kisses. Her foster shared that she’s very mild tempered, curious, and chill. With the other dogs in the home she’s been interested but learning cues and not super intrusive.

Alaska has the SWEETEST soul. She has a little sadness in her eyes, which we see all too often, but we know that with time the sadness will slowly fade away and be replaced by happy memories. You can tell there’s so much love in her!

If you’re interested in adopting Alaska please apply on our website

Meet adoptable Henry!

Henry recently had surgery to repair entropion in one of his eyes (a painful condition where the eyelid turns inward) and is now recovering from that + his neuter at our vet. He’s healing well and ready for the next step, a home!

We don’t know much about his past, but volunteers who spent time with him say he’s playful, gentle, and eager to please. He knows how to sit and lie down, listens well!
