🌶️🥬 It’s Kimjang season!

Last Saturday, the King Sejong Institute Center USA and our students joined the Kimchi Workshop hosted by KCCLA in celebration of Kimchi Day (11/22)!

We rolled up our sleeves to learn not only how to make kimchi, but also the rich history and tradition behind Korea’s beloved side dish. 🥬🔥

KSIC USA was also proud to share Nongshim Shin Ramen—enjoyed as “Hangang-style” on the spot! 🍜

Thank you to KCCLA and to all students who made the day unforgettable. 💛

The King Sejong Institute Center was delighted to take part in a special event at Los Angeles City College as a sponsor of K-Food goodie bags 🍜 (special thanks to Nongshim America! 😊).

We were honored to celebrate the beauty of Hangul through a special poetry class with Oh Eun — one of Korea’s most beloved emerging poets. His acclaimed poetry collection “From Being to Being (유에서 유)” has also been translated into English. 📖✨

Last Tuesday, our King Sejong Institute students came together to celebrate the 579th Hangul Day (한글날) through a special Hangul Calligraphy Workshop, co-hosted by the King Sejong Institute Center USA and the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles! 💫

Hangul Day honors the creation of the Korean alphabet by King Sejong the Great (세종대왕), whose name our institute proudly bears. His mission to make literacy accessible to all Koreans continues to inspire us today. 👑✨

Students enjoyed hands-on calligraphy practice, creating their own masterpieces inspired by meaningful words, poems, and lyrics. ✍️💖

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in celebrating the beauty of Hangul! We hope you enjoyed your commemorative gifts and delicious K-food goodie bags 🍜🍬

Did you know? Tomorrow, the 1st of March, is Korea’s Independence Movement Day (Samiljeol)!

🌺 What is Samiljeol?
🏛️ On March 1, 1919, Koreans stood up against Japanese colonial rule with peaceful protests demanding independence.

🌺Why does it matter?
✊ It was a turning point in Korea’s independence movement, inspiring future resistance and global awareness.

🌺How is it remembered today?
🎉 South Korea honors this day with ceremonies, parades, and flags displayed across the country.

🌺Fun Fact!
📝 The movement was inspired by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s idea of self-determination after WWI!

❤️ More than a century later, the spirit of the March 1st Movement continues to symbolize resilience, unity, and the unwavering pursuit of freedom.

🎊✨Seollal Celebrations at KSIC USA! ✨🎊

Yesterday, our students came together to celebrate Korean Lunar New Year with a fun and festive Seollal event! 🏮🐍 From playing Gonggi (공기) and Jegichagi (제기차기) to enjoying delicious Korean rice cakes (떡), we embraced the joy of the holiday just like in Korea! 🎮🥢

In Korea, rice cakes are shared during special celebrations as a symbol of good fortune and happiness—so we couldn’t let our students leave without a taste of this tradition! 🍡💛

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! We loved celebrating with you and can’t wait for more cultural events to come. Stay tuned for what’s next! 🎉
