Throughout the years, KAC has developed various programs aimed at empowering and educating the community.

The Korean American Coalition- Los Angeles (KAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1983 to promote the civic and civil rights interests of the Korean American community. Since 1983, KAC has assisted over 40,200 immigrants to become U.S. citizens and registered voters; co-founded the Black Korean Alliance in 1988, and launched the 4.29 Center in 1997 to provide dispute resolution and interethnic outreach; coordinated victims relief efforts after the 1992 Los Angeles Riots; successfully lobbied for bilingual voter registration forms and sample ballots in California; conducted forums, seminars, and workshops on the American political process and pressing social issues; trained more than 800 college students in leadership development and community organizing; and sponsored over 200 college internships. KAC has continued to work closely with government agencies and elected officials to promote more responsive governance and policy making that impact the community. KAC also developed broad coalitions with other ethnic communities around shared concerns.

That’s a wrap on the 53rd Los Angeles Korean Festival! 🇰🇷🇺🇸

This year, KAC launched See Us, See Our Vote, the 2026 KAC Internship Program (KIP) civic engagement project designed to increase Korean American voter participation.

Festivalgoers experienced the campaign firsthand, using 3D glasses to reveal the hidden image behind “Hidden in Plain Sight” and taking home a Rose of Sharon or American rose flower clip representing the two cultures that shape our community.

Over the weekend:

🗳️ 1,303 community members directly served
📱 2,221 QR scans and website visits (and counting)

Thank you to everyone who visited Booth #47, tried on the glasses, learned about voting, and helped us launch See Us, See Our Vote into the community.

Congratulations to our 2026 KIP interns, whose research, ideas, and creativity brought this campaign to life. 🌺

We also extend our sincere gratitude to KAC Board Chair Susie Oh, LA Korean Festival President and KAC Advisory Board Member Alex Cha, and KAC Board Member Margaret Cha for their presence continued support.

축제 기간 동안 1,303명의 지역 주민들을 직접 만나 지원했으며, 프로젝트 웹사이트는 현재까지 2,221회의 QR 스캔 및 방문을 기록했습니다.

This past weekend, KAC MUN was awarded Best Large Delegation at SageMUN 2026! 🏆

In addition to the delegation award, our students earned 15 individual awards:

KAC will be at Koreatown Plaza on 10/6 (Tue), 10/8 (Thu), 10/13 (Tue), and 10/15 (Thu) to provide bilingual, nonpartisan voter information and voter registration assistance.

Korean Americans are invisible.

Nearly 944,000 Korean Americans are eligible to vote nationwide, yet just 58% voted in the 2024 presidential election, compared to 64% nationally.

For the 2026 KAC Internship Program, we took that idea of political invisibility literally.

👓 Put on the 3D glasses: hidden Korean American voters appear, and the message “Hidden in Plain Sight” becomes “See Us, See Our Vote.”

Over six weeks, our five college interns researched, developed, and brought this campaign to life through bilingual stereoscopic postcards, a Koreatown LED display, and clear, nonpartisan voting resources in English and Korean.

Eligible for ? KAC provides bilingual assistance with the naturalization process, including N-400 application support.

U.S. citizenship comes with both rights and responsibilities, including the right to vote and the responsibility to participate in our democracy. Becoming a citizen and casting your ballot are meaningful ways to make your voice heard and your community seen.
