The 2nd Annual John Lapham Golf Classic is coming this November!

Join us on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Porter Valley Country Club for a day of golf, community, and giving back. For more than 30 years, our annual golf tournament has helped support the programs and opportunities we provide to youth in South Los Angeles. In 2025, we renamed the tournament in honor of longtime board member and former Golf Chair John G. Lapham III, whose dedication to the Wooten Center continues to inspire us.

This year’s event will include breakfast, a putting contest, an 11 a.m. sh***un start, lunch on the course, a silent auction, and an awards dinner.

We are currently welcoming golfers, sponsors, and silent auction donations. We are also proud to offer complimentary tournament admission to Los Angeles County first responders who love to golf.

Learn more, register, or support the event at wootencenter.org/golfclassic.

Thank you to our 8th District Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson for accepting our 2026 Vision Award and for supporting our youth for many years.

Our LA City Council President shared the time when Mayor Karen Bass brought him to our youth center for the first time when they were at Community Coalition.

He has returned several times since then, providing a great example of leadership and action for our students.

Click below for a recap of our 32nd Vision Awards Dinner held on May 21 at Marriott Marina del Rey.

Thank you to all of our contributors and over 150 guests who helped raise more than $175,000 for our college and career readiness afterschool and summer programs.

Enrollment is open now for our CollegeTrek Afterschool Program for grades 3-12.

The tuition-free program with private tutoring, STEM classes, discussion groups, golf, archery, a basketball league, college advisement and tours, and more opens on Aug 24.

Free private tutoring and homework assistance are available onsite and online Mon-Fri, 1-7pm.
